Easy Fall Swing Dress

Fall in Florida doesn’t really exist. It’s hot until at least late October, and that’s if we’re lucky. The past few years seem to have been hotter for longer. But that doesn’t stop us Floridians from finding our own kind of fall. When it comes to dressing for fall in Florida, I just want it to be easy. Layers are overly complicated in Florida and a surefire way to give yourself heat stroke. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good layered look. But in Florida, a simple swing dress is a much more appropriate way to go.

When I hear swing dress, I immediately think fall. But I know that’s not what most other people think. A swing dress is an everyday staple, that I wear the least of all my dresses. I don’t love dresses that lack a defined waist. But, I’ve recently given the swing dress a try and have fallen in love with it. It still gives you a shape but is so comfortable. While many dresses may start to feel tight after wearing them all day, these will not. So for hot fall Florida days, they’re perfect and breezy.

I’ve now rented this dress twice from Nuuly and will probably end up renting it again. The color is my absolute favorite, and works perfectly for summer or fall. (Making it a great transition piece). But it also has a puff sleeve, ruffle, and embroidery. As swing dresses go, this is not a simple design. For a more fall look I paired this dress with some white booties (that are so comfortable and under $50 from Target) and a felt hat that I bought last year. To me, booties and a felt hat make any dress go from summer to fall. Which is great news for this Florida girl, because there’s really not much more you can do in fall than that.
