At first I was questioning whether I had enough green to even make it to St. Patrick’s Day, but we’re only a few days away from March 31 and I’m still wearing green! At the very least, I thought I’d have to repeat some outfits. However, I ended up only repeating a pair of pants, and the rest were unique individual pieces. Pretty remarkable if you ask me! While I technically didn’t wear green every day (due to uniform requirements) I did wear two green outfits in one day. They just so happened to be workout outfits. With so many green outfits, you may think it’s hard to narrow it down to a few favorites. But looking back, it’s really not hard at all to pick my favorite green outfits from March at all. These aren’t your ordinary St. Patrick’s Day tees thought, these are elegant outfits featuring green that you can wear well into the rest of spring and summer.   Six Elegant Green Outfits for Spring *The blooming bougainvillea was a paid actor in many of these photos. I felt like I’ve packed one whole lifetime in just 31 short days. As such, I’ve gotten to wear a variety of different outfits throughout the month. From work wear, to weddings, and everything in between. With so many outfits, it’s almost hard to pick a favorite from this month. So instead, here’s my top three outfits from January.  Disclosure: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, meaning at no additional cost to you I may make a commission if you click through and purchase. January 2025 Purchases https://centralfloridachic.com/january-2025-purchases/ Sat, 25 Jan 2025 13:47:49 +0000 https://centralfloridachic.com/?p=15754 January 2025 Purchases for London

I did not commit to no spend January. Simply because I knew I had some upcoming events that would, most likely, require shopping. And truthfully, I have no self control sometimes. However, to be more mindful of my spending habits, particularly with clothes, I’ve decided I will keep a running list of everything that I’ve purchased in a month. Hopefully this will encourage to consume less throughout the year. January was, admittedly, a high consumption, high spend month. There were some events and travel later in the year that I shopped for. Here’s everything I purchased in January. (So far. I won’t pretend like there’s nothing else I could possibly buy. I cave easily).

January 2025 Purchases – Events

My Brother’s Wedding

One event happening in January that I shopped for was my brother’s wedding. Do I need a new dress to wear to the wedding? Absolutely not. Could I have rented one? Yes. But nothing was speaking to me and I was struggling to find something that wouldn’t clash with my husband, who’s in the wedding. So I went with an all black ensemble. I purchased a new dress and a purse to go with it. But I saved a ton of money purchasing this Nicholas dress from TJ Maxx. (It was originally over $500). And I waited for the purse to go on sale as well to save a couple dollars.

NICHOLAS Dress (Under $100) // Tuxedo Top Handle Purse

Valentine’s Day

Other things I was looking for in January were a few Valentine’s items. A vision I had was of a cardigan with little red bows embroidered all over. I thought, for sure this must be something that exists. But after many Internet and Amazon searches, all o could find were sweaters for kids. So I headed to my local Marshall’s and TJ Maxx where I found exactly what I was looking for. And even a cute sweatshirt for Valentine’s Day too.

Similar Cardigan // Similar Matchbox Sweater

UK Travel

The last items on my “stock up early in 2025” list were some things for my upcoming trip to England and Ireland. I’m going in May with my husbands family and as a Floridian, I expect the weather to be chilly. So I wanted to gather some layering items should they (inevitably) be needed. One item in particular that I wanted was a barn jacket. Which I found on sale at Loft that looks extremely similar to a Sezane jacket. I also purchased a collegiate style sweater that says “London” on it during one of my TJ Maxx hunts. It was too fun to pass up.

Barn Jacket (Under $100) // Similar London Sweater

Unexpected January 2025 Purchases

As far as unexpected purchases in January went, there were only two. And they were both Disney sweaters. January has been unusually cold this year in Florida (as evident by the recent snow in the state). I don’t usually buy Disney sweaters because there is never a time that I can wear them. But this month, I had ample time to wear them to the park! And as simple explanations go, Tiana is my favorite princess and Magic Kingdom is my favorite park. Need I explain more?

Stoney Clover Sweater // Mickey Jeans // Tiana Sweater // Levi’s Jeans // Tiana Hat

As you can see, I spent way too much money on clothes this month. So my goal in February is to only purchase one or two items from a potential Hill House drop. But like I said, it’s a goal, not a commitment, so we’ll just see how it goes.

Timeless Winter Outfit Ideas for Florida Winter https://centralfloridachic.com/timeless-winter-outfit-ideas-for-florida-winter/ Mon, 13 Jan 2025 13:49:59 +0000 https://centralfloridachic.com/?p=15762 This winter in Florida has been unprecedentedly cold. It seems like almost every day this month I’ve been greeted by temperatures in the 40s. While some days do warm up to a comfortable 75, other days barely reach the mid 50s. Which leaves me at a loss on what to wear! Two outfits have been my go to for this unorthodox Florida winter. While some might say only one outfit is timeless for winter, I say both are timeless in their own way. Disclosure: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, meaning at no additional cost to you I may make a commission if you click through and purchase. Gal Meets Glam Paige Set Paige Dress // Paige Skirt // Paige Jacket All I have to say is, thank God for this Christmas gift. In my mind, this Gal Meets Glam Paige Set is the epitome of a timeless winter outfit. And really, it’s a three piece set if you include the Paige Dress, Paige Jacket, and Paige Skirt in the “set”. There’s so many ways to style these pieces, but without a doubt they work so well together. I’ve already worn the jacket multiple times this month, so I need to play around with other ways to style the dress and skirt. There’s no doubt, you’ll be seeing this set in one way or another all winter long. Oversized Blazer  Similar Blazer // Jeans // Similar Purse // Boots This has been a go to since last winter on chilly days. It’s especially great on weekends for running around doing errands or getting brunch. While I’m not typically a fan of an oversized blazer it’s a great outfit for Florida winter. Meaning, when the temperatures fluctuate you can easily take off some layers. An oversized blazer also just feels cozier during this time of year. If you’re looking for it to appear more fitted, add a belt or crossbody bag to give the outfit structure.

My 2025 Attainable Goals https://centralfloridachic.com/my-2025-attainable-goals/ Fri, 03 Jan 2025 21:04:43 +0000 https://centralfloridachic.com/?p=15727 Just another stranger on the internet here to say, “Happy New Year!” to you today. I’ve never been one to set goals for the new year, let alone achieve any of the goals if I do. The goals I tend to set aim too high and don’t focus on the success achieved when working towards those goals. (i.e.: Back in 2019 I had a goal to qualify for the Boston Marathon. When I didn’t meet that goal I clocked it as a complete failure without recognizing that I had run my first ever marathon. In 2020, I went for it again and this time overtrained leading to an injury that forced me to walk the last 8 miles of the race. Again, I marked it as a failure instead of seeing it as an accomplishment for even finishing the race with an injury). These two examples just to say, when you look at goals with that kind of tunnel vision, you can feel like a failure instead of celebrating all the milestones achieved along the way. So for 2025, I’m setting some attainable goals to help me shift my mindset. Three Attainable Goals for 2025 While everyone’s goals for the new year are different, there are certain themes that pop up year after year. For instance, goals of working out more, eating healthier, etc. While I don’t think my three personal goals may be applicable to everyone, hopefully they help you on your journey of attainable goals for 2025. Fall Back in Love with Running It has been a long time since I have loved running. When I was training for my marathons, I was dedicated and working towards a goal. And while working towards a goal so big certainly keeps you motivated, it doesn’t mean you love it. Not to mention, when you don’t achieve said goal, it can actually make you hate it. This year, instead of setting a goal tied to personal records or long distances, I just want to fall back in love with running. How you may ask? I’ve convinced my friend to register for a RunDisney race in April this year. She is not a runner and the only way I convinced her to sign up was for the medal. But already following along with her journey has renewed my running spirit. And I can’t wait to be by her side as she runs her first race and celebrate her win. Romanticize My Life I think there’s so many things in our daily lives that we forget to romanticize and be grateful for. Sharing dinner with your SO, lighting a candle, reading before bed. So many little things that we fail to recognize as a luxury. Which is why my 2025 goal is to recognize and romanticize these things more. Whether this is hosting more dinner parties or taking the time to appreciate cooking dinner with Michael, I think this goal will help me ultimately be more optimistic and grateful throughout the year. And, in a way, it’s also about celebrating the little wins too. Adding Character to Our Home We built our house over the course of 2022 and 2023. As you may guess, builder grade homes only have so much character. While we’ve added a gorgeous bookcase, there’s a lot more room for improvements. One of my goals for 2025 is to add more character to the house. Whether it’s updated lighting fixtures, crown moulding, or the addition of a fireplace, I’m excited to see it transform in small ways this year! My Favorite 2024 Gifts https://centralfloridachic.com/my-favorite-2024-gifts/ Tue, 31 Dec 2024 20:50:31 +0000 https://centralfloridachic.com/?p=15718 Wow, what a year 2024 has been. And what a Christmas we had! Michael and I asked for a lot of practical gifts, but also gifts we knew would bring us joy. To no shock, there were a lot of clothing items on my wishlist. (Which is one of the reasons I did a huge closet clear out and let my youngest sister “shop” what I was getting rid of). Many of the items I asked for and received were things I was looking to replace or items that I’ve been on the hunt for for years and never pulled the trigger on. Hubby took notes and delivered. Or was it Santa who delivered? Here’s my favorite items I received as gifts this 2024 Christmas. Disclosure: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, meaning at no additional cost to you I may make a commission if you click through and purchase. My Favorite 2024 Christmas Gifts Like I said, there was a lot I had my eye on in 2024 that I waited to purchase. Including items that I was interested during the holiday season but held off on purchasing. The first of which is this Gal Meets Glam Paige set from Poshmark. During one of my posh scrolls, I found this set that I have been coveting for a while. This elicited a loud *gasp* from my mouth that scared my husband. (He says all my gasps sound the same, whether there’s a spider, I’m excited, or I’ve cut my finger). But the gasp clearly paid off as this set showed up under the tree on Christmas Day! The bow is to die for and, you can never have too many tweed skirts. While the set is by far my favorite gift I received (particularly the jacket), the pants in this post are a very close second. I’ve been looking for what feels like years now for the perfect pair of plaid pants. Ones that you can see from a distance are plaid and can be worn in fall without suffocating me. Which means, they couldn’t be wool and needed to breathe. Hopefully at a quick glance you can tell as easily as I can that it checks all the boxes. Not to mention, it pairs so well with the Gal Meets Glam jacket.

Matching Holiday Pajamas for Couples https://centralfloridachic.com/matching-holiday-pajamas-for-couples/ Fri, 27 Dec 2024 22:17:00 +0000 https://centralfloridachic.com/?p=15703 Around this time nine years ago, Michael and I first met. It’s hard to believe we’ve spent every Christmas together since. Sometimes it feels like forever, simply because (as my dad puts it) it’s like he’s always been there. And sometimes, it feels like no time has passed at all and we’re still just two kids home for the holidays. There’s a lot of holiday traditions that you get to participate in when two families come together. But it’s making those traditions your own and making new traditions that make the season really special. One tradition that my family has is a pajama brunch. When Michael and I first got together, we’d respectively wear the pajamas that our families were wearing. But over the years, we’ve made it more our own with matching holiday pajamas. And this year, I think we’ve really peaked in the matching holiday pajamas department. Disclosure: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, meaning at no additional cost to you I may make a commission if you click through and purchase.  When Michael and I have matched in years past, it’s been a bit more eclectic. A matching t-shirt, maybe some matching pants and occasionally those two things together. Until now, we’ve never had what I’d consider to be “real” matching holiday pajamas. But this year, I was determined. Tartan is one of my favorite holiday prints, so I set out to find us matching tartan pj’s. Since we live in Florida, I also wanted to make sure these were pajamas we would actually be comfortable wearing, which meant finding shorts. (Do you know how hard it it’s to find shorts in men’s pajamas?) Ultimately I found them on Amazon. Thought even that I had to hunt through. But why stop at pj’s? We also picked up slippers from Target to complete the ensemble. When we arrived at brunch, we also matched with Michael’s sister, so the whole gang was decked out in tartan! DIY Bow Slippers for the Holidays https://centralfloridachic.com/diy-bow-slippers-for-the-holidays/ Wed, 18 Dec 2024 22:28:38 +0000 https://centralfloridachic.com/?p=15690 When I was a kid, I dreamed of being a fashion designer. I had a mini sewing machine and fun paper cutouts to make new outfits. That dream has since passed, but sometimes the spark comes back. Typically when I have a vision in my head for something and can’t find it anywhere. That’s the case with these bow slippers that I DIY’d for the holiday season. I’m obsessed with tartan this time of year. Whether it’s a dress, pjs, or a blouse, I want it all in my closet. When I purchased me and my husband matching pajamas for my parents holiday brunch, I knew immediately I wanted fun bow slippers to complete the ensemble. But tracking down tartan slippers with bows? Hard to find. So I did the next best thing and bought these slippers from Target and some holiday bows from Marshall’s to do a simple DIY. Disclosure: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, meaning at no additional cost to you I may make a commission if you click through and purchase. Easy Bow Slippers DIY Supplies: One Easy Step: Truthfully, I wasn’t sure what the vision was. I just know I wanted tartan and bows. Once I had those two items, it was just a matter of figuring out the placement. After that, the rest was easy. A little hot glue and bam, my dreams were a reality. So far, the glue is holding strong. But if it ever does come off, I’ll probably spend some time sewing the bows back on. For now, they’re these bow slippers are the perfect thing to bring my holiday jammie dreams come true.

Easy Bow Slippers DIY

Supplies:

One Easy Step:

  • Add some hot glue and you’re done!
Bow slippers

Truthfully, I wasn’t sure what the vision was.

2024 Early Black Friday Sales https://centralfloridachic.com/2024-early-black-friday-sales/ Tue, 26 Nov 2024 15:56:35 +0000 https://centralfloridachic.com/?p=15657 It seems that Black Friday sales and Cyber Monday sales start earlier and earlier every year. While we’ve come to expect sales from department stores like Macy’s and Target, some of my favorite brands have gotten into Black Friday sales recently too. Brands like Lilly Pulitzer have typically been known to only have two sales a year, previously known as the After Party Sale and now known as the Sunshine Sale. With the usual and unusual suspects participating in sales this year, I wanted to round up my favorites. You’ll see that I’m sharing my most worn brands that I swear by for almost all occasions. From casual, to swim, to special events and shoes, these are my tried and true brands that I keep going back to. Disclosure: Some of the links in this post are affiliate links, meaning at no additional cost to you I may make a commission if you click through and purchase. My Favorite 2024 Black Friday Sales to Shop Early If I’m being honest, I actually appreciate Balck Friday sales starting before, well, Friday. There’s so much going on during the holidays it’s nice to have a week to scout out sales and not impulse buy everything. It also allows me to focus on family more with a lot of them only being here for Thanksgiving and Black Friday. By having access to the sales earlier in the week, I can focus on them for the time that they’re here. 25% Off AlbionFit with code BF25DANIELLE Albion Fit has quickly become one of my favorite brands this year. Here’s just a few reasons why I love them: 30% Off Lilly Pulitzer Like I mentioned earlier, Lilly Pulitzer doesn’t typically participate in sales throughout the year in order to make their featured sales truly exceptional. However, since Covid, I’ve noticed that they participate more regularly in sales throughout the year. They are offering 30% off sitewide from November 26-December 3. Stock up on some great holiday and even summer pieces. Below are just a few of my favorites. 30% Off Hill House with code EVERYTHING30 Y’all know my obsession with Hill House and I 1000% took advantage of this sale. I’ve had my eye on the Matilda from the pre-fall collection and used the 30% discount on top of the sale already. This is a great way to snag your favorites from earlier in the year and current season styles as well! You can never go wrong with the Ellie after all. And I can tell the Matilda will be a silhouette I go back to time and time again. 30% Off Sarah Flint with code BF30 Sarah Flint is another one of those brands that I’ve come to love for their quality and comfort. Two things you can’t always find in a shoe, even at designer prices. I’m a huge fan of the Natalie flats because of the extra padding and the timeless design that really goes with any outfit. They’ve been a lifesaver for work, especially events that I have to stand on concrete floors for hours on end. Needless to say, I drank the Kool-Aid and it’s been worth it 100%.

Albion Fit has quickly become one of my favorite brands this year. Here’s just a few reasons why I love them:

  • Runs True to Size: This is something I feel like most other swimsuit brands can’t say. I’m typically sizing up but that’s not the case with Albion Fit.
  • Smooth Seams: There’s nothing worst than a crusty seam digging into your skin.
  • Variety: There’s so many swim styles but also great every day wear! Their trousers are also some of my favorite for work and even travel.

Something that is both spooky, but also comfortable in the 90+ degree weather that Florida still experiences in fall. There’s no shortage of Disney Halloween clothes out there. Mickey ghost jeans and pumpkin Mickey sweaters are readily available this time of year. But as a Floridian, there’s no way I can comfortably wear these. Not unless I’m looking to give myself a heat stroke. So this year, I set out to make what I’ve always been looking for, a Disney Halloween tennis dress. Since I’ve purchased my first tennis dress, I’ve raved about how great they are for Disney trips. So why don’t they make Halloween themed ones when Disney World is still so hot? I’m not sure, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me from another year of wearing boring Halloween Disney outfits. Here’s how I made this ghoulish dress for all my Disney Halloween outings this year. Supplies for a Disney Halloween Tennis Dress

I’m a Cricut junkie. Whether it was DIY-ing for my wedding, or making Halloween pillow cases, I love how easy it is to use and create something. Of course, that’s how I went about creating my own Disney Halloween tennis dress. If you have a Cricut machine, there’s only a few other things you need to create this look:

  • Iron-On Vinyl – I used the glow-in-the-dark vinyl so at night it was still spook-tacular!
  • Tennis Dress – I went with a tennis dress that was a bit more elevated. Amazon is a great place to browse multiple styles that don’t break the bank.
  • Iron or Cricut EasyPress – I don’t have a Cricut EasyPress, so I just use my handy dandy iron.
  • Cricut Explore – It’s a DIY lovers favorite tool and I swear by it.

Three Easy Steps (And Important Tips!)

Once you have all your supplies, you can go ahead and dive right into creating your dress. I made some mistakes with this project, so I also have some helpful tips so you don’t have to make them too!

Steps:

  • Download or create your SVG image for Cricut. You can shop on Etsy, or create your own.
  • Cut and weed your design. (Remember to mirror before cutting!)
  • Place your design and iron. (Use a spare piece of cotton fabric!)

Pro Tips:

  • Don’t iron directly on the dress – I ended up melting a hole in the front of the tennis dress because I ironed on it directly. Place a spare piece of cotton fabric over the dress when ironing.
  • Test the size a placement of the design with paper first – I cut out the Mickey ghost on paper before cutting the vinyl so I could test the size of the design. As they say, measure twice, cut once!

That’s really all there is to it! This dress was so much fun to wear after completing! In just the month that I’ve had it done, I’ve worn it three times! Just goes to show, if you have a vision for something in your head, but you can’t find where to buy it, just make it!
