Schools right around the corner so let’s get right into this preppy girls school supplies guide. As far as I’m concerned, you can never have too much school or office supplies. Sure you may have 2 pairs of scissors, 3 tape dispensers, and 12 backpacks, but they’re all necessary. My back to school post from last year I feel like was pretty epic, but there’s always room to expand on school supplies. We won’t just cover pens & paper, but everything you would need throughout the school day. Also, this week & weekend are the tax free holiday in Florida. Notebooks & Planners
This is surviving 101. Don’t plan on making it through the school year with at least one of these things. I can tell you right now I still use both a notebook and a planner out of school. I realize that times are changing and not everyone uses paper to take notes anymore. You should know that writing is more effective than typing when it comes to memory. My go to studying tip is to write your in class notes, and then type them up before the exam. Which leads me to another point, write down the date of the exam in your planner! That’s not something you’ll want to forget.
Pens & Pencils
Another no brainer when going to school. I always preferred a pencil but some people like pens. Whatever your preference, there’s a ton of new preppy options that have come out just in time for back to school. I’m particularly in love with these Lilly Pulitzer pens & these colorful mechanical pencils. Buy a few, or a whole set. Oh, and don’t forget your pencil pouch.
Tote or Backpack
I live for backpacks. I honestly feel so lost without one when I go to work every morning. This is the second year I’ve had my eye on this Calpak backpack. But then, Lilly Pulitzer swoops in out of the blue with the most adorable backpack I’ve seen in awhile. The good news is, they’re both around the same price. If you’re the type of person to stick with the same bag for awhile, I’d recommend spending a little more money on a high quality bag that you know will last.
Water Bottle
Hydration, hydration, hydration! Especially because I live in Florida. Whether you’re in college, high school, middle school, or elementary school, a water bottle is a must! Typically cooling & heating systems in schools are highly overlooked and don’t function properly. That means in the summer it’s either Antartica or the middle of the desert. Same goes for winter. Be prepared by bringing a water bottle to beat the heat and regulate temperature. It’s also always a good idea to have one if you’re taking gym or some kind of physical education.
Toiletry Kit
This should include all the necessities like, a hairbrush, compact mirror, extra deodorant, band aids, a breath mint, some feminine products and some extra mascara if you please. Remember, this shouldn’t take up a lot of space in your bag but you’ll thank me later for having it. I still carry my little kit with me where ever I go.
Lunch Box
Something I use every day! I’ve been in the market for a new storage system in my lunch box and discovered bento boxes. I hate when my food touches so bento boxes are the perfect addition to my lunch box to solve this problem.
Umbrella
In Florida, it rains, a lot. It’s either morning showers when you’re headed to class, or afternoon showers when you’re going home. I’ve been caught without an umbrella before and it is not good. Stick it in a side pocket, keep it in your locker, but take it from me, don’t leave it at home.
