Alright y’all, ideas are coming back to me for this week. Last week was a bit crazy for me working from home. But I think this week will be a lot more calm and I’ll have time to put together more post & content. I’ve been seeing a ton of closet organization ideas going around on the web and I just think they’re totally fabulous. At the same time I feel like they are a little un-relatable because they’re closets don’t seem to be cram packed with junk like all of mine are.
But to each their own, I’m just trying to find how I can be more organized with so much stuff being in one closet. So I figured I’d share with you not 1, not 2, but 3 of the closets in our house and how they’re organized. They are all full of stuff, but there is a method to the madness that I hope you can use!

Walk in Closet Organization
The first thing I tackled during this stay at home order was our master closet. When we found our new place, we thought the closets would be plenty of space for all our clothes. Especially with dressers as storage to. Boy were we wrong. I don’t think my boyfriend or I realized how many articles of clothing we actually had until they were all in one space. Luckily the guest bedroom also has a walk in closet to store even more of our clothes in. (I use it for a lot of my Disney clothes and t-shirts). I will not be showing that closet though because it truly is a mess. Anyways, there are a few key items that keeps our master closet organized even though it is completely full. They are:
As you can see, it’s still a work in progress and there’s still a lot of clean-out that still needs to happen. (We both find it hard to part with clothes). But I’m really happy with the way it’s progressed since I’ve been at home. I hate to say it but, it was a lot worse just a month ago.
How We Organize Our Clothes
I have a very specific system when it comes to hanging my clothes. It’s almost a little anal. My longer maxi dresses are at one end of the closet (so there’s no shoe rack in the way). Then it fades to my favorite “designer” dresses (starting with Kate Spade and then transitioning to Lilly Pulitzer). All of which is organized by color. After designer clothes it goes into my other dresses and tops which are also organized by color. So to put it simply, I organize by brand and color. My boyfriend organizes by “not worn recently ” on the top rack and “fresh out of the laundry” on the bottom rack.
Coat/Mud Closet Organization
This was the second closet that I tackled in the house. Up until about a week ago things were just kind of thrown in this closet. It had a lot of pool/beach stuff, everyday shoes, and jackets in it. But they were literally just thrown in there. I took the time to go through all the inflatables and floaties that we have and completely empty them of air and store them in a plastic bin. Let me tell you, that worked miracles. (We also have a ton of inflatables. Y’all we don’t even have our own pool but we are prepared for a party π).
We also hung up a hanging shoe rack for all those shoes as well as a small organization rack for extra shoes, ball caps, and other miscellaneous items (like gift wrap & bags). I am honestly so much happier with the way it looks. It used to give me anxiety but it looks so much better now. The organization items in this closet are as follows:
Craft / Office Closet
Currently my favorite and most disorganized closet in my house is my makeshift crafting or office closet. This closet is bigger than Harry Potter’s under the stairs room and has so much space. We’ve fit a desk, and a small book shelf in there and it just holds so much stuff. Because it can fit so much it makes it really difficult to organize. Even though its main purpose is for my crafting and creating, it is also home to other documents, childhood memories, and other sentimental items that don’t have a place in the house yet.
My boyfriend says, crafts are just “controlled clutter”. I can’t disagree. I’ve basically made this closet my mini studio. It sees everything from watercolor to sewing (and all the in-betweens). The biggest organizer of this closet is the over the door storage. It’s essentially just a shoe organizer turned craft supply storage. While it’s not the most organized & pretty closet, it certainly is my favorite. I hope it makes you feel inspired to turn a tiny storage space into a useable area too!
Noted that these closet pictures are literally the worst ever. Gotta make do with what I have though π
