Whether you’ve attended an ugly Christmas sweater party this season or not, I’m sure you’ve noticed that not so ugly holiday sweaters are all the rage this season (and every Christmas season). I’m all for wearing holiday sweaters all year round, but you may run into some bah humbug! Besides, Florida only allows a short period of time to wear sweaters without melting like Frosty the Snowman. The worst part about the cold weather in Florida is, sometimes it’s not even cold during the holidays! Because of this, I like to have sweaters that can be worn all winter season, and not just for Christmas. Below I share some of my favorite not so ugly holiday sweaters that can be worn whenever the weather permits!
Holiday Sweater Trends of 2018
As I mentioned in my holiday socks post, I love fair isle and novelty themed sweaters for the holidays. There is just something so quirky and unique about them that I can’t get enough of. The main reason I love the fair isle trend is because it can be worn all throughout winter. There’s the occasional fair isle print that has some reindeer (or even says “Merry Christmas”, like the one above) that can tip the scales into “Christmas sweater” territory. Even those are subtle enough that you can get away with wearing them well into the New Year and winter season.
Tips for Saving Money on Holiday Sweaters
Sweaters can get ridiculously expensive, especially when they are in season. I wasn’t sure if I would have this section in this post, but, after many miracle sweater finds later, I knew it had to be added. It’s nothing long or elaborate, but they are ah-maz-ing tips.
1. First and foremost, shop your store sales. The flamingo sweater from J. Crew Factory is on sale for a great price, and the sweaters from Kohls are sure to be on sale at some point (plus coupons and Kohls cash). Do your research and make sure there are no other coupons you can use to get those sweaters, because you want the best deal you can find.
2. Secondly, shop your off-price retailer! (I’ll be honest, I just found this terminology, “off-price retailer”). Shop at your local T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Bealls, Burlington, and any other off-price retailer to find the best prices on holiday sweaters. I just scored a flamingo ugly Christmas sweater for my boyfriend and I at Marshalls the other day (follow along on Instagram to see what they look like later this week, they are to die for). Also, while online shopping at T.J. Maxx this week I found a deal on a Barbour sweater in two different colors!
Match Made in Heaven
I’ve said it a million times and I’m going to say it again, I love fair isle and novelty socks and sweaters. Yes, I am repeating that statement in the same exact post. Why? Because I found the perfect sweater socks combos to share with you guys. I love to match, and matching holiday socks and sweaters is the top level of matching. Enjoy!
