One of my favorite reasons to buy matching sets is so I can mix and match with my entire wardrobe. When I initially bought this Lilly Pulitzer set for spring I had only ever tried on the shorts. Specifically, I had tried on the shorts with a plain white tee. It was really from that moment that I knew I wanted this set so I could switch up outfits. However, I found the shorts at TJ Maxx and they had no matching top. Priced at $30 when I knew it was from a set made me hang up those shorts like they were infected with Covid-19. But you all know lil ol’ me, I took to the interwebs to find the entire set. It may have taken some time since first trying on those shorts with a plain white tee, but eventually it was mine. And let’s be honest, there’s no better way to wear a plain white tee than with printed bottoms.

Plain White Tee and Printed Shorts
Alright, alright, enough back story on the shorts. Let’s get to the real beef of this post. Clearly you can guess I own a lot of printed shorts. But when it comes to pairing with a t-shirt, it’s not as easy at it seems. The cut of the shorts and of the shirt need to harmonize. Sadly, it doesn’t just happen (especially for me because I have such a short torso). The best match I can find for these situations is to have a pair of high waist shorts handy. They seem to go with just about anything and are easily my favorite style of shorts. This isn’t to say a plain white tee won’t go with many other printed shorts, high waist are just my favorite. I do think that printed shorts are the best way to go when wearing a simple top in the summer though. It’s put together and fun at the same time. Perfect for the beach or the theme park.

Cute white tee look. Love your glasses. I wish I lived in a place where I could wear my white Keds year round. Great post, thanks for sharing.
