Who even am I anymore? I used to be strictly no tuck shirt girl. Then I become a full tuck type girl. And now I’m the in between, a half tuck shirt kind of girl. I remember trying to half tuck before in my life and it just never worked out. No matter how hard I tried, my half tuck never looked like the pictures. It looked too big, or too tight. It was sloppy and not polished. I seriously struggled with it until I gave up on the half tuck all together. Fast forward to now and I’m giving it another go. I think I’ve finally found what works for me. And today I’m sharing exactly what those tips & tricks are to the perfect half tucked shirt.

Tips to Master the Tuck
- Lift Your Arms: Tuck all the way and then lift you arms for a comfortable & natural fit.
- Leave Unbuttoned: I find that leaving the last two buttons on a shirt works best. Or even better, layer the shirt and leave it all unbuttoned.
- Tuck Half the Back: I’ve played with tucking 3/4 of the shirt and found that it looks best to only do half. It’s professional yet comfortable.
- Don’t Limit Yourself to Button Ups: Surprise! You can half tuck more than just button ups. Once you’ve mastered one type of shirt, try another!
More Ways to Half Tuck a Shirt
There’s more than one way to achieve the perfect half tuck in a variety of shirts. For t-shirts I like to only tuck the front (this is where I use the “lift your arms” method the most). For button ups, I like to tuck mid front to mid back. And for sweaters I prefer an off center tuck. The possibilities are endless so experiment and find your favorite way to half tuck a shirt!
