I’ve had my eyes on this matching fall set available to rent from Nuuly since our Napa Valley trip back in May. While it would have been the perfect set to sip wine in, I thought it more appropriate to rent and wear in fall. Which is exactly what I did. There’s something about the plaid of this set that just screamed fall to me. And when the top came in stock in my size, it did not disappoint. Here’s my honest review of the set, in both size and comfort, as well as different ways you can style it. Both as a matching set, and individual pieces.

Favorite Daughters x Nuuly Sizing
The reviews on both the pants and top from the Favorite Daughters x Nuuly set is pretty mixed when it comes to sizing. So I wanted to break it down on what worked for me compared to original sizing. The reviews I’ve also found leave out the issue of quality, particularly in the pants that I felt should be gone over too.
- Pant Fit: True to Size. I ordered a size 2 and wear a size 2 in most tailored pants. If you are looking for a more relaxed fit in pants, I would size up one size.
- Top Fit: Runs Small. I’m typically an XS/0/2 in tops and wear a 32C and I ordered a size 4. This fit perfectly. If you are bustier, I would recommend sizing up more than one size.
- Pant Quality: Okay. These pants are unlined and are a flannel type material. If they have been lined, I might have been inclined to buy them. But the lack of liner really does not agree with that type of fabric and my skin.
- Top Quality: Good. The top is fully lined, which I am so thankful for. However, it is once again the flannel type material that has a lot of pilling.
Overall, I’m in love with the way the set looks, but felt let down in the way it feels. I’m no longer in the business of sacrificing comfort for style when you can simply have both. It’s a great set to rent and I adore the plaid print, I just wish the quality was kept to a higher standard.
Styling a Fall Set
My favorite things about matching sets is all the combinations you can style them. One set with two pieces can be styles countless ways with pieces in your closet. Here’s three ways I styled this fall pants set. Which look do you like best?
