I took a shopping pause for my wardrobe the month of April, that I almost made it through save for one dress from H&M. But all self control went out the door as soon as May 1st hit. (Full transparency: I purchase a lot of new things for my wardrobe using the little bit of money I make through commissions on the blog. Not everything, but a lot of things. So thank you for supporting me). There are two purchases in May that I know I will be wearing all summer and had to share.

Hill House Linen Dress
If you don’t already know, I’m obsessed with Hill House. I didn’t think I could become more obsessed, but then I bought this dress. The majority of Hill House dresses that I own are cotton. This dress, however, is linen and I need all their dresses to be available in linen now. The linen fabric is so much more breathable which makes it even more perfect for Florida.
I actually purchased this dress while on our trip to Napa. It’s part of the summer Hill House drop and I didn’t even noticed that the fabric was different. I just knew I wanted the nautical bow print. When it arrived, the package was heavier than what I’m used to. Linen is a very breathable fabric, but I think the shirring in the bodice needed to be heavier for the fabric. (Not a dress maker, just throwing things out there based on observation). Since purchasing it, I’ve already worn it twice and if I could, I’d wear it every day. So Hill House, this is my plea to make more linen dresses!
Under $50 Amazon Bag
I’ve been trying my best not to shop on Amazon for clothes or accessories. It’s so easy to consume and overindulge when prices are cheap and items arrive quickly. It’s just one of the fast fashion habits I’ve been trying to break. But when it’s crunch time before a trip, I still will go in search of if they have what I need. For our trip to Napa I was looking for a neutral bag to wear while wine tasting. This one is under $50 and worked great, and pairs even better with this dress from Hill House! Do keep in mind, because of the price, it was a little smelly when initially removing it from the package. While I don’t expect it to last very long, sometimes these cheap finds surprise you. So fingers crossed!
