If you’re looking to live in a fairytale every day, look no further than getting ready with the brand Selkie. Selkies designs are whimsical and extravagant. You’ll be turning heads in their collection of show stopping designs. I recently had the opportunity to rent a few Selkie dresses with my Nuuly subscription. In doing so I got to experience the brand for the first time without going over budget or breaking the bank. (If you’re looking for the opportunity to do the same with designer brands, check out my post).

How to Make a Selkie Dress Longer
With the volume that most Selkie dresses have, it can sometimes feel a bit breezy. With the fabric and length of the skirt, I’m not always the most comfortable just wearing the dress. So how to you combat this problem without taking away from the beauty of the dress? Here are my two tips:
- Add compression shorts under the dress – For dresses that are just on the cusp of feeling too short I wear compression shorts underneath. That way if a breeze does carry me away, I’m confident that my knickers won’t show.
- Layer a longer skirt underneath – I know this may sound strange, but the right skirt underneath the dress will still look stunning. You’ll also feel more comfortable with a little extra length.
The second Selkie dress that I ended up renting was just a tad too short for my comfort. But the top of the dress had tons of stretch. I could actually pull the top of the dress almost to my belly button (sounds weird, I know). So i decided I’d try and style it outside the house by layering a top underneath it instead of a skirt. Honestly, it created a great fall vibe to the dress and I would have loved to wear a felt hat and some white booties with it.
