I am beyond excited for the Vineyard Vines for Target collaboration releasing this Saturday, May 18th. I’m almost as excited for this collab as I was for the Target and Lilly Pulitzer collab a few years back, almost. There are so many great products that are in this collaboration and lookbook it’s crazy. But, can you trust these collaborations of high end brands with Target? Let’s break it down below shall we.
Quality
A question that often comes up with collaborations for Target is if the quality upholds to the original brands standards. I can speak from experience, that the clothes Target produces has drastically gone up in quality in the past 5 years. This is coming from the girl who has half her closet made up of Lilly Pulitzer and the other half made up of Target brands. If anything, Target tries much harder in terms of quality on collaborations than they do with their normal clothing lines. This doesn’t go to say that the quality is 100% the same standards as Vineyard Vines or Lilly Pulitzer is, but it will last you for a few years to come.
Price
Here is the thing that will always outweigh the quality for me, price. The prices from these Target collaborations are just too good to pass up. $35 for a Vineyard Vines Dress? Unheard of! Something else that my boyfriend pointed out to me was “all this stuff will be on Poshmark in the end”. I can’t say that I disagree. While Poshmark usually has marked down prices, these collaborations seem to be the exception. Because everything sells out so quickly from Target collaborations (like Lilly Pulitzer for Target) people seem to think they can mark up the prices selling it secondhand. Personally, I think that’s silly because the whole point of these Target collaborations is to make name brands more affordable for the everyday person. I’m sure those people get a great bang for their buck though because people snatch it right up!
Vineyard Vines for Target Lookbook
In late April Target released the Vineyard Vines lookbook to download. Target has done wonderful things for online. For instance, you can add the Vineyard Vines items to your favorites list. As a result, can quickly add it to your cart when the collab goes live on Saturday. I’ll personally be shopping online and might goes see if there’s any leftovers at the store after the initial craziness. I’m hoping there will still be some goodies left when I get there but I’ll try not to over obsess.
