The beautiful thing about fashion is, there’s really no rules. You make up the own rules to create your own unique style. While some colors certainly fit more in a season, (ie: orange and brown for fall, pastels for spring, etc.) there’s no real rule saying what you can and can’t wear. Heck, even the “no white after Labor Day” is a complete lie. However, you may still want to feel like you’re dressing for a certain season. Even if it’s not in the widely accepted color palette. That’s how I feel about wearing blue in winter. It’s not exactly a winter color (unless your’e Elsa). But with some styling and reminding myself that I live in Florida, I can make blue a winter color for fashion.

Tips for Styling Out of Season Colors
I think the best tip for wearing any color in any season is to wear it with seasonal pieces. For example, if you’re wearing dark colors in the spring or summer try styling it with some shorts and sandals. If you’re wearing light or bright colors in winter or fall, style them with some boots and a hat. Obviously, if you live somewhere it gets cold you can wear a sweater in any color and it will be appropriate for winter. But in Florida that’s just not the case. So the best way to make an outfit feel like a season is to accessorize like that season.
This one shoulder dress in a floral print may not be the most winter-y dress you’ve ever seen. But I paired it with some white booties and a felt hat to better fit the season. Granted, I do think it has more of a fall than winter vibe but only because of the one shoulder. I think if I opted for some sparkly accessories it would really hit home for winter. Especially with the New Year coming up!
