We just celebrated our second wedding anniversary on March 24! Each year, the wedding anniversary is traditionally celebrated by giving a specific gift to your spouse. While this is certainly a more traditional way to celebrate your wedding anniversary, I think it’s so romantic. Year 2 Wedding Anniversary Gift – Cotton
The second wedding anniversary gift is traditionally cotton. While the gifting of these specific anniversary gifts is fairly traditional, doesn’t mean the gift has to be. In fact, it’s a fun challenge to think of a gift that incorporates the wedding year and your spouses interest. And when I say it is a challenge, it is. Here’s a few ideas to get you started.
Cotton Gifts for Her
- Cotton Dress – Hill House is one of my favorite brands and their Ellie Nap Dress in cotton is so flattering on every silhouette.
- Cotton Bow – a cotton hair bow can be bought in your wife’s favorite color, favorite print, or even custom embroidered. Pro Tip: Get your wedding date monogrammed on it for a special touch.
Cotton Gifts for Him
- T-Shirt – Get matching t-shirts with your wedding date embroidered on them. This is a simple way to keep your wedding day close to your heart.
- Cotton Watch Band – My husband is big into watches. Finding him a new watch with a cotton band is a way to give the traditional gift in a way that I know he’ll love.
There’s a million other cotton gifts that you can gift. Cotton bed sheets is one idea that I’ve seen shared fairly frequently and love. (I’m a sucker for new bed sheets). Year 1 Wedding Anniversary Gift – Paper
The traditional gift to give after a year of marriage is paper. Last year we celebrated our first anniversary and the year absolutely flew by. It felt like we had just gotten married a few days before! We celebrate our anniversary in a very low key way, staying home and ordering takeout. But here are some ideas that I wish I would have acted on (and the one I did).
- Orlando Magic Tickets – Our whole story started with tickets to an Orlando Magic game. Ordering tickets (even the kind you print out) and going to the game is a perfect anniversary gift.
- Wedding Photo Book – This is still a work in progress for us. We have been editing it for months (ok probably a year at this point). If you have a wedding book ready to print, get it for your first anniversary!
- Poster for the man cave or she shed – This I what I ended up gifting Michael last year. Our schedules were packed and this was a non time consuming gift. Look at Etsy for posters you can customize and have printed at Staples. I went with a car that his dad used to race in. As his dad passed away before the wedding, I wanted him to be there with us for years to come.
