I just finished running the 2024 Princess Half Marathon at Disney World over the weekend. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably followed along all weekend long with the outfits and festivities that occurred! While I’ve done a handful of RunDisney races in the past, this was my first time participating in the Princess Half Marathon and my first race of 2024. Admittedly, races and running have taken a back burner for me since covid hit. An injury at the beginning of 2020 got me out of a regular running routine and I’ve never really gotten back into it the same way. But I’m really hoping this race is the thing that changes that all.
2024 Princess Half Marathon Outfits
One of the big things RunDisney is known for is the amazing outfits worn by participants. From Disney bounding to full blown costumes, it is so fun to see everyone dressed up while running! Even though I’ve done about 5 RunDisney events now, I’ve never dressed up fully for a Disney race. I typically pick outfits that are fully functional for running while also hinting at the theme (sometimes). This race was no different. I opted for functionality over cuteness factor, but still tried to dress themed for the race, and entire race weekend. Here were my outfits over the weekend:
Packet Pick-Up Outfit
I originally planned to wear this outfit on race day, but the weather in the morning had different plans. Race morning was forecasted to be in the upper 40’s – low 50’s. While I’m used to running in a sports bra and shorts, even in the 50’s, I wasn’t ready to commit to this outfit for the race. So instead, I wore it to pick-up my race bib and shirt at the expo. We also stopped at Magic Kingdom afterwards to meet Rapunzel and Tiana, both of which had a race dedicated to them.

Race Morning Outfit
I wasn’t fully committed to wearing just a sports bra and shorts the morning of the race, but I also wasn’t committed to wearing much more than that either. Instead of piling on layers I decided to just add a crop top and zip up jacket that I could throw away if I got too warm. It is highly recommended to have a throw away jacket on race mornings, especially this time of year in Florida. In fact, I’ve had this jacket since my first Disney Marathon, but didn’t end up wearing it then because it was so warm. While this isn’t my cutest outfit, running or otherwise, it got the job done for 13.1 miles!
Post Race Outfit
After crossing the finish line, I went back to the hotel and relaxed for a bit. But after a quick shower and nap, Michael and I decided to head back to Epcot for a quick bite to eat. Both of these were a first for me. At previous RunDisney events I’ve never stayed on property or gone to the parks after a race. Since I was cold while running in the morning, I chose to wear a quarter zip during the day. Was it necessary? Not at all, my body temperature was still plenty warm. But man did I feel cute. And if you’re not going to feel cute for the race, you should at least look cute after the race.

Race Medal Outfit
Since this was our first time staying on property for the race, we stayed until the next day as well. This allowed me time to recover without overdoing it at the parks on Sunday. Now the whole reason I signed up for the race to begin with is because Tiana is my favorite princess. While she’s been the star on past RunDisney and Princess Marathon Weekends, I hadn’t felt ready to get back into running at the time. This outfit is inspired by Tiana’s outfit during “Almost There”. (Which they played multiple times throughout race morning!) I seriously love the way it came out with the perfect ears. And it showed off my race medal better than I could have dreamed!
Meeting Tiana at the 2024 Princess Half Marathon
Throughout the race they always have characters for you to stop and take pictures with. They are also available for photos at the race expo when you pick up your race bib and shirt. However, due to lines and not wanting to be on my feet that long, I opted to head to Magic Kingdom for photos with the princess, specifically Tiana. This was probably not the smartest move as the wait was probably just as long, if not longer, than it was at the race expo. So please, learn from my mistakes. But I would recommend meeting the character before or after the race if you are looking to PR as meeting them on the course, can take some time as well.
