Athleisure Wear While Staying at Home

This stay at home act has made me become a walking contradiction. Or maybe it’s the weather. Or maybe I’m not a contradiction at all but trying to give the people what they want! I love athleisure wear. I love the way it looks and I love how comfortable it is. But I don’t consider it “normal clothes” so I don’t usually wear it. However, I am 100% guilty of wearing workout clothes and athleisure at home. Hold on hold on, before you accuse me of being a hypocrite. I only wear athleisure on days I’m doing an at home workout OR after I’ve worn normal clothes for most of the day. Around 2pm I give myself some freedom with what I wear, which sometimes mean no pants and other times means tomorrow’s workout clothes. I can’t say I don’t wear it, I just typically don’t feel good when I do. After all, workouts are supposed to hurt and workout clothes (or athleisure) mentally prepare me for that.

Athleisure Wear vs Workout Clothes

Since my main workout is running, I can easily differentiate between workout clothes and what I wear as athleisure. When I run I wear Nike tempo shorts, and a Nike medium support sports bra (yes, extremely specific, I don’t care). They work for me and never cause me any kind of problems. Athleisure on the other hand is more what I used to do yoga in, or what I’d sometimes wear to physical therapy. When I do at home workouts on a non run day athleisure is also what I wear. For me this separation is important because my clothes get me into the right mindset. Whether thats working, running, or going out.

Celebrity Style

I think one of the reasons for my recent interest in athleisure is celebrity style. Celebrities I feel are notorious for wearing gym clothes and name brand athletic wear anywhere and everywhere. I have far too much time now to scour the internet therefore I’m seeing a lot more celebrity style & athleisure. It was only a matter of time before I caved into the trend while staying at home. But rest assured, you’ll only see me wearing this out and about if I’m on a walk or just finished some workout class.
