Now that Valentine’s Day has passed it’s time to move on from the holidays and go back to basics. As spring weather fast approaches I wanted to talk about one of my favorite wardrobe essentials, the quarter sleeve dress. And what better way to transition into spring than with this Lilly Pulitzer quarter sleeve dress? It offers the perfect amount of protection from any final winter breezes while also offering bright spring colors! Whether it be a dress or even just a top, quarter sleeves are a great way to rotate some basic pieces back into your wardrobe after the most festive time of year.

Spring Wardrobe: Back to Basics
I know there is still technically a few more weeks until spring, but I can’t hold in my spring fever anymore. I’ve had more than enough days this winter (in Florida) to wear all the sweaters I own, even almost twice. I’m not sure if this Florida winter has really been all that different than in years past. Maybe it’s just that I can finally see all my clothes again after moving into my own place. Which makes me dress more appropriately for weather. Whatever the reason, I’m ready to pack up the sweaters and pull out the tees. Spring is a great time to go back to those wardrobe basics we know and love and I plan on doing exactly that.
Quarter Sleeves
My no. 1 back to basics item is a quarter sleeve dress. It’s important during fall and spring to have transitions pieces in your wardrobe. However, my closet seems to lack any item that could potentially be used as a transition piece. This is why the few quarter sleeve dresses (and tees) are so essential to me. The transition period in Florida is pretty short, which explains why I don’t have too many quarter sleeve items. But honestly, 3 or 4 quarter sleeve items is a pretty good start to any wardrobe.
I love this quarter sleeve dress from Lilly Pulitzer. It was actually one of my first APS purchases! I’m still so glad I got it because it is a staple to any closet. I love the bright colors and fun print. This is the Lilly Pulitzer Marlowe dress in Pink Lemonade. The fabric is fairly light which is perfect for spring in Florida. My other favorite Lilly Pulitzer quarter sleeve dress is the Sophiletta dress. The Sophiletta dress has a bit of a thicker fabric than the Marlowe dress too which is nice for early springs cooler temperatures.
