It should be noted that I’m having way too much fun as a bride to be. So much in fact, that I’ve failed to take photos at most every wedding and bridal event. There’s snapshots taken here and there by friends and family, but certainly I’m not posing pretty for these photos. So while my bridal shower(s) were certainly ones to remember, there might not be the best photos to prove it. None the less, I had to share because my bridal shower completely blew me away.
A Surprise Bridal Shower
Unbeknownst to me, my maid of honor, mom, and future mother in law, threw me a surprise bridal shower the weekend of my bachelorette party. It just made sense to have it then since everyone was in town for bachelorette, but I had no clue. Even though I walked past my own mothers car and was asked by the host if we were there for a wedding event. I was still oblivious until we walked into the room and there was my family and even more friends! To say I cried a lot would be an understatement, because I balled like a baby.
Admittedly, I had some requirements for my bridal shower. Such as: No tacky games (you know the ones that ask about the bride and the groom? Cringe). Really that was about it. Honestly, I was hoping for no games. But I guess my mom(s) and friends know me best, because the whole thing was perfect, even the games.
Bridal Shower Location: Island Grove Wine Company
The shower was held at Island Grove Wine Company in Kissimmee, FL. It was an amazing location and I couldn’t have picked it better if I tried. My maid of honor did such an amazing job. From telling me that we were just getting brunch there, to offering to curl my hair “just because”, she picked the perfect place and had a great cover up story.
Activities & Games
Like I said, I had requirements: no games. Activities? Sure. Games? I couldn’t think of any that weren’t embarrassing. But it all turned out wonderfully. There was food (that I probably didn’t eat enough of), mimosas (a must), and yes, games! Luckily they were lighthearted and fun. We named the Disney love song, matched the Princess silhouette, and tried not to say “wedding” or “bride”. So obviously not to cringe worthy.
Oh, and did I mention these stunning cookies that my mother in law had made? I couldn’t have picked out a more perfect batch if I tried! I’m still swooning over the photos. (And refusing to eat the ones I have left).
Work Bridal Shower
Though I did not ask for it, my job threw me a mini bridal shower as well. Even though I will be leaving them in a week to take another job. But all is well and I’m leaving on good terms and I greatly appreciate everything they’ve done for me. There were no games at this shower, just good old fashion gift opening. I asked if Michael could join in on this one since I’m extra awkward at work. I’m so glad he came so I didn’t have to sit up front alone awkwardly opening gifts.
