Chambray on Chambray: Trend to Watch

Chambray has been a trend I’ve loved for some years now. It’s chic, stylish, and completely timeless. Which makes sense considering it’s basically on the same line as denim. This may lead you to ask, what is the difference between the two is anyways? The simple answer is, the way the fabric is woven. The best way to tell the difference between denim and chambray is that denim will be lighter on the backside of the fabric while chambray will have little to no variation of color. Does all this technicality really matter? Well no. But I always like knowing the difference and being educated (especially on fashion).

When it comes down to it, chambray and denim both create timeless pieces of clothing. Whether its a skirt, a shirt, or even a dress, these fabrics are always in. (In one form or another that is. Certainly Brittany’s dress from 2001 is out right now. But with a little bit of tweaking…anyways). All this thinking got my wheels turning on how to style a few things in my closet in a new way. Sure, denim on denim is a thing, but this is a little different.

At first I thought this trend (ok self trend?) would be great for fall. Especially in Florida wear it’s hot since chambray breaths a bit better than denim. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized this could really be an all year style. After all, it’s only a short stretch from denim on denim.

Other Trends to Watch this Fall

With fall fast approaching I didn’t want to leave out a few other trends that are making their way back into the game. First and foremost, leather. I invested in a leather skirt last year that is still going to be perfect for this fall and winter. However, on those colder days in Florida I’ll be sure to pull out my leather jacket too (and look like a total BA). Also on the cold days I’m going to convince myself to try some jeans with a denim jacket. Who knows, it might just make me fall in love with jeans again.
