Colorblock Gingham Bikini from J. Crew

Well, I’m on day 3 of my Alaskan cruise and let me tell you, I’m really not convinced the bikini life is for Alaska. But just because I think that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t share this adorable high waisted, colorblock, gingham bikini from J. Crew. I thought the pastel colors in this bikini fit well with Alaska so I packed it for the trip. We’ll see if I actually end up wearing it or not with the few days left on this cruise.

I bought this bikini during J. Crews Memorial Day Sale in May. I just loved the different pastel colors in it. It’s girly, preppy, sweet and everything you could ask for in a bikini. I’ve purchased swimsuits from J. Crew Factory before so I thought I knew what I was getting myself into with this bikini. While I love it, I’m very confused about the fabric the bottoms are made out of. It’s not your typical swimsuit material but feels like a mix of linen, silk, and a waterproof material. Honestly, it’s pretty hard to describe. The official description says it’s composed of “Nylon/Lycra® spandex”, whatever that is. The fabric makes it a tad difficult to get off and on when you’re wet. Which isn’t ideal when it comes to a swimsuit. I know most suits aren’t all that easy get on and off when they’re soaking wet, but this one is difficult to remove with just a few water droplets on your legs. I guess it doesn’t matter too much because it’s cuteness far outweighs its practicability. Besides, it’s not like I’m getting in the pool on this cruise anyways.

As everything from J. Crew, I’m wearing an XXS in the bottoms. The top runs true to your bra size, which makes it super easy to shop.
