So if any of you are like me, working from home is totally not your thing. I find myself overworking, underworking, and dreaming about working because I can no longer differentiate between work and home. For some reason I just can’t get in a proper work groove when I work from home. I suppose this is something I should have realized awhile ago. In college I had to be sitting at my desk or in the library to get any kind of work done. Especially if I wanted it done correctly and without too many distractions. But I do try to work properly from home. About one thing and one thing only gets me into the work groove at home, and that’s dressing up. Like the old saying goes, dress up to show up.

This “dressing up” concept is something I’ve firmly believed in for a long time. So much so, every time I was asked to write a persuasive essay in school, that’s what my topic was about. The phrases “dress to impress” and “make a good first impression” are not to be taken lightly. If you think that they don’t apply to you, think again. I guarantee at least once in your life you’ve looked at someone and thought “what are they wearing”, which confirms that these sayings are true.
Dress Up to Show Up – Dressing the Part
Maybe an easier example of “dress up to show up” is the athlete. For me at least it’s an easy way to understand it all. If I’m participating in a race I don’t wear cleats and baseball pants. I wear the shorts, sports bra, and shoes that I know work when I run. Same thing goes for working from home. I don’t wear pajamas when I go to work, so why should I wear them when I work from home?
Anyways, let me get off my soap box now. Maybe you can work in sweatpants and a tee, but the majority of the time, I can’t. My boyfriend constantly tells my friends, I wear Lilly just to do the dishes. A girl can’t help that she wants to look good! On the days I know I need to get some work from home done I’ll dress up like I’m going to the office. The outfit I shared in this post is just one look I’ve been wearing to work from home.
