Wearing a Cover Up as a Dress

I enjoy having a versatile closet. When I can use one item for multiple outfits I consider it a win. I also love having a small petite frame that allows me to shop in the kids section for a fraction of the cost. The more money I can save and ways I can wear clothes the better in my opinion. I’ve shared in the past that I use cover ups as dresses and vice versa. So today I wanted to share another cover up that I recently purchased from TJ Maxx before they closed.

From Casual Cover Up to Daytime Look

You honestly may never tell that this dress is actually a cover up, but that’s the way it’s marketed. I love cover-ups that work not just at the pool or the beach but also for every day wear. Often times, cover ups can be sheer, too short, and open (which there’s totally nothing wrong with). However, that’s not what I look for when I want a piece that can transition to a day time dress. I love this dress because it can do both. It is light enough to wear over a swimsuit at the beach or the pool, but also has enough coverage to wear as a normal dress.

I styled this dress with a one of my favorite recent purchases. This rattan belt is from Amazon and comes in multiple colors and styles. There’s also a cute rattan belt that is at Target right now but it’s almost twice the price and I don’t think it has the same amount of stretch as this one. I love this belt because it adds the perfect amount of spring and summer flair to an outfit.

Diversify Your Closet

When I think of using items in my closet for things they aren’t marketed for I always think of Maddy. She has a great knack for taking items in her closet and completely revamping them. In particular I think of a post where she took a skirt and wore it as a skirt. I mean, how ingenious?! You can check out her post here.
