Every year when fall rolls around I find myself desperately craving a new wardrobe. I want all the jackets and boots and layers that the rest of the country seems to enjoy. Heck, even just a day to wear my halloween sweaters (without a hurricane hitting us first). Sadly, that’s not in the stars for myself and fellow Floridians. Last year, I started to build my fall wardrobe with Florida in mind. I picked up some fall skirts and a few blazers to layer with. While the skirts got a lot of wear, in fall and throughout the year, the blazers didn’t get all the attention they deserved. Sure I wore the blazers a couple of times, but it really was too hot to layer a blazer as much as I wanted. So this year, I’m on the hunt again for Florida fall fashion essentials. AKA, items I can wear without melting like Frosty the snowman. I’ve had some great luck so far and will definitely be purchasing more items like these in the future to add to my wardrobe!

Florida Fall Fashion Finds
While my Florida fall fashion haul isn’t the most extensive haul I’ve had, I do think it will be very versatile throughout the season. So far I’ve acquired new cardigans, dresses, and pants for fall. These items will pair nicely with what I’ve already added to my fall wardrobe in years past, and will go well together.
- Short Sleeve Cardigan – Where a regular cardigan may be more appropriate for fall up north, a short sleeve cardigan is perfect for Florida. Bonus that it’s cropped.
- Linen dress – This is a no brainer for Florida. A linen dress isn’t just great for summer, but also fall and winter in Florida. Look for a long sleeve midi or maxi linen dress in muted colors to make it more fall.
- Culotte pants – I’ve never really been a pants person, but I’ve been drawn to culotte pants a lot this fall. They’re perfect for Florida because of their breathability. They come in so many colors too that can work, not only in fall, but spring and summer as well.
More Fall Essentials
Just like all fall fashion might not be fit for Florida, Florida’s fall finds might not be fit for where you live. Here’s some more fall essentials for the cooler weather that I still own and love.
- Black Blazer – I’m a sucker for a good classic blazer. My favorite place to shop for affordable yet quality blazers of all colors is Zara. There’s so many options and most are under $100.
- Patterned cardigan – Admittedly, I also bought a long sleeve knit cardigan this season too. Stripes are perfect for fall, and a classic pattern that you can wear for years to come.
- OTK Boots – I first gave over the knee boots a try after seeing Carly speak so highly of them. They are sadly not something I get to wear too often. But I love when I do. They’re so elevated and have become a staple of the fall and winter wardrobe.
