Hill House Nap Dress Review

Now that I am officially the owner of a Hill House Nap Dress, I can put my 2 cents into the mix. The nap dress has been all the rage since quarantine and covid came into everyones life in 2020. It’s become a staple of almost every preppy girls wardrobe, and so many more. Its claim to fame is its comfortability. Hence why it is called a nap dress.

While I’m all for the hype, I really hadn’t been sold enough to buy one. And if I was going to buy one, it was going to be in the classic print that took the world by storm back in 2020. Blue Botanical. Unfortunately for Hill House, the blue botanical in the classic Ellie Nap Dress goes out of stock all the time. During their most recent drop for Nap Dress® Summer the blue botanical Ellie came back in stock, and I finally took the plunge.

Ellie Nap Dress Review

I did hold off a little too long and had to buy an XXS, which brings me to this post & review. Whenever I read a review for Hill House it always said “size down”. Which is understandable as the shirring of the dress allows for a good amount of stretch. I’ve seen people wear Hill House, before, during, and after pregnancy with no problems. The XXS fits just fine. However, if I had the choice, I would have purchased the XS. My normal size is an XS and I think in this case it runs very true to size. Not to say that the XXS doesn’t fit. I just believe I’d prefer the TTS fit of an XS. (Something to keep in mind if you are considering your own nap dress!) I believe the only reason I feel this way is because of the sleeves. They bring the dress up easier and I prefer a lower neckline than the one you get with the XXS.

Other than the fit I love everything so far about Hill House. The dress is a great fabric. Not too thick, and not too light. Overall the perfect fabric for summer, especially considering the breeze it allows. The lighter prints and colors can show undergarments if you aren’t careful. But a general rule of thumb I’d give is, don’t wear red underwear. (And if you do, be sure to wear a slip!)
