Don’t ask me why but I’m in a polka dot mood! Particularly in a Kate Spade polka dot mood…which led me to pull out this dress recently. When I see this dress it screams Kate Spade to me, but it doesn’t scream summer. However “not summer” an item may be though, you can always style it to fit the season. (I mean, even a sweater with shorts is acceptable in summer. Indoors only though). So that was my challenge, to take this Kate Spade polka dot dress and turn it into a complete summer look.

Summer Polka Dots
Just because I don’t think this polka dot dress is exactly made for summer doesn’t mean I don’t thin polka dots weren’t made for summer. I mean hello one of my favorite bikinis is polka dot (sadly it’s not yellow though). The reason I don’t think this dress was made for summer is because of the thick material and the black with white polka dots. Rest assured though, Kate Spade rocks polka dots all year long no matter the season. When I think of summer polka dots I often think yellow, rainbow, or black polka dots on a light background. This dress just isn’t any of those things. Therefore I tend to wear it more in the winter than in other months. But I was up to the challenge to make it an all year dress and I’d say I did pretty darn good.
Styling this Kate Spade Polka Dot Dress for Summer
I went into my stores of “only summer” accessories to pair with this black and white polka dot dress. That meant pulling out all the natural materials. The straw, wicker, rattan, and rope accessories all had a chance to pair with this dress. Ultimately I picked the espadrilles I’ve been wearing literally all summer, the awesome rattan belt I got back in March, and a natural straw bag that mimics the polka dots of the dress. I’ve got to say, not to shabby for making an outfit fit for summer.
