Just because I live in Florida doesn’t mean I don’t love winter prints. However, it is unfortunate that I don’t get to wear them nearly as much as the rest of the world. It’s not that items aren’t available in these prints, it’s just that the fabric of my favorite winter prints tend to thick. I can’t recall for certain when I became big into tartan, plaid, and check, but I’d say it was fairly recently. Now I’m stuck mostly dreaming of these prints instead of wearing them.

Winter Prints: Tartan, Plaid, & Check. Oh My!
Like I said, it wasn’t until recently that I became obsessed with tartan, plaid, and check. I think since I’ve been exposed to them more and more over time that I’m finally coming to realize how timeless they are. Kind of like stripes and polka dots. The nice thing about these winter prints is that they can actually be worn year round. For instance, if you have a light pink check you can wear it in spring. A pastel or rainbow print plaid is perfect for summer. J. Crew does a great job at releasing color appropriate prints for every season.
While not everyone agrees that you can wear tartan after the holidays, I beg to differ. I don’t fall for the “no white after labor day” rule so you can bet I’ll be wearing tartan throughout the rest of winter. After all, 4 short weeks after Thanksgiving just isn’t enough time to wear all these prints before they’re “out of season”. Make your own style rules, and then break them. You just might surprise yourself at how great something works.
Below I’ve shared some of my favorite items in these winter prints. I don’t own nearly enough of these items but I sure love to look at them. Hopefully after they’re “out of season” (to the fashion world that is) they’ll go on sale and I can snag a few more things.
