This off shoulder dress has a quite the story to go along with it. Well actually, it has a couple stories. But first lets take it back to when I was little. I’d say I was raised pretty conservatively. Not in a way where it was shoved down my throat but I did know what would get me judgmental glances or questionable whispers. Showing skin, particularly shoulders, was one of those things.

This idea was reinforced by our wonderful school dress code system. No tank tops, no strapless, and certainly no tube tops. Easily avoidable with a cardigan or the oh so popular middle school trend of wearing a t-shirt under a tank top. I grew up thinking if you showed your bare shoulders you were asking for it. It’s been engrained in my brain since a young age. So why should I be surprised that trying off shoulder or one shoulder items are so outside of my comfort zone? It’s actually not surprising at all. But I’ll tell you what ladies, it’s time to say no more to that absurd ideology. My shoulders are no more “provocative” than my face so I’m going all out on off shoulder from now on.
One Shoulder Target Dress
That’s just one story…I ordered this dress as a part of a fairly large spring Target haul. The box arrived opened and disheveled. Luckily, everything I had ordered was in the box. (I guess nothing was in their size or they just weren’t that into women’s clothing). It’s just a little upsetting seeing a package so haphazardly on your door step. And then worse when everything inside of it is thrown in there. But no matter, the items got to me in good condition so if just the box was injured that’s ok.

This one shoulder dress is only $20 and comes in a variety of colors. It was the perfect item to step outside of my comfort zone with because of the price tag. What I wasn’t expecting was for it to be so darn comfortable! It’s made of a cotton polyester blend. This combination is perfect for spring and summer because of it’s comfort. It’s like wearing a t-shirt but so much better. Have you ever seen a t-shirt look this good?
