I am so into cozy fall outfits right now. Cable knit sweaters, printed pants, scarves, the list is endless! But as I say most every post, these fall essentials don’t fly in Florida. I’ve had to adapt and re-adapt my fall style while living in Florida. Typically my Florida “fall” style is just wearing my summer clothes. This year however, I’ve tried hard to create trendy fall looks for Floridians. One way I’ve discovered to create an appropriate Florida fall look is by wearing prints, patterns, and fabrics that the rest of the world does during this season. Leather is always trendy in fall and winter, so I thought a pleated leather skirt would be perfect for fall in Florida.
How to Wear a Pleated Leather Skirt in Florida
In general, leather does not breath. Which makes it such a great fabric for fall and winter. However, that also makes it terrible for Florida almost any time of year. I’ve owned a handful of real and vegan leather items throughout my life and I always sweat bullets in them. Even when I lived in Virginia, a leather pencil skirt was sure to kill me. So how does a pleated leather skirt in Florida hold up? Honestly, pretty well! Compared to a pencil skirt, the pleated skirt provides much better air circulation. Air circulation is key to every Florida outfit, whether it be summer or winter. The best thing about this pleated leather skirt? If you need extra air flow, just do a little twirl. Overall I think a pleated skirt should be in every Florida girls wardrobe.

The leather skirt, particularly pleated leather skirts, have been trending the past few fall seasons. Without fail, J.Crew has put out a pleated leather skirt every year recently. This is great when it comes to clothes shopping on a budget. Because it’s trending over the years, there’s a better chance of finding it secondhand. I will say though, it was a struggle finding this particular skirt in my size and the color I wanted. It is certainly much easier to buy the skirt from this season than going through all the effort to find a deal. I almost wish I had just bought this years skirt. Then I would have been able to enjoy it much sooner. One upside though, I now own both a beautiful black and burgundy pleated leather skirt and could not be happier.
