Rain on Your Wedding Day

Marriage! Marriage is what brings us together today.

Michael and I recently just reached our 6 month wedding anniversary. While I wouldn’t say we celebrated our 6 month anniversary, it is certainly worth celebrating everyday. We get asked all the time how “married life is”. To which we respond with, “the same”. It’s truly a beautiful thing to be just as in love now as we were on day one of dating. And it’s something I wish for everyone, to be in an eternal honeymoon phase. With 6 months of being husband and wife I’m looking back on our wedding day. I’ve realized, I haven’t shared much about our wedding day. (Just everything leading up to it mostly). It certainly did not go as planned. With the most memorable unplanned thing being the rain on our wedding day. But I suppose it is true as they say, rain on your wedding day leads to a beautiful marriage.

How to Cope with Rain on Your Wedding Day

The rain started the night before the wedding, after the rehearsal dinner. For being so type A, it didn’t bother me the night before. I was convinced the rain would hold off for the ceremony and cocktail hour. (The only parts of the wedding planned for outside). The nerves didn’t start until getting ready the next morning. And those nerves were probably due to the fact that I couldn’t see anything that was going on. I didn’t leave the bridal suite once from 10am until 4:30pm. I could see the rain falling outside while getting ready and it naturally stayed throughout the ceremony and cocktail hour. The rain let up after the ceremony enough to take photos outside and it was accompanied by the most gorgeous golden hour light. Looking back, good photos were my main concern with the rain. And as I got them, I really can’t say rain on your wedding day is a bad thing at all.

Obviously, if your entire wedding is outside I can see how rain on your wedding day could be a damper. (Pun intended). We picked our venue to specifically be inside. Being in Florida, there are only two temperatures. Freezing (for Floridians) and as hot as hell. Not to mention, I jump at anything that flys toward my face. It can be a butterfly or a feather. I will run and scream. So we chose our venue based on whether it could be all indoors. While we were convinced to do the ceremony outside, it was actually exactly how we originally planned to be all inside. Maybe not in the rooms we were thinking, but again, it all worked out beautifully.

Pictures from Our Wedding Day

Enough talk, lets get to the photos! Below is just a glimpse into our wedding day. The photos truly are gorgeous and I’m so happy with the way they turned out. They bring back memories we won’t soon forget.
