Straw, raffia, and rattan. What a mouth full! While I would assume most people know what straw is in one way, shape, or form, raffia and rattan may not be as familiar. I’ll go over quickly what the minor difference is between them all. But most importantly it’s good to know that they are all hot commodities in the fashion world. So here’s the run down, straw accessories is straight forward as it’s strIaw. Raffia is my personal favorite because it originates from the raffia palm. Finally, rattan is more of a type of wicker making it probably the thickest of all the options. When it comes down to it, you probably won’t be able to tell the difference in an accessory or article of clothing using one of these materials. Which is both good and bad. The major downside to it is this, you have to use all three words sometimes to find what you’re looking for.

Unique Raffia and Rattan Finds
The best thing about straw, raffia, and rattan is that they are extremely versatile in fashion. They make up a ton of unique accessories, and even clothes, during the spring and summer seasons. From handbags, to shoes, and even earrings, these materials lend themselves very well in the fashion industry. I wanted to share just a few of the unique items that they can create.
Favorite Items in my Closet
I won’t say that I have a lot of straw + etc. items in my closet, but I do have a few. Some of them include recent purchases from both Amazon and Target. The majority of them take the form of a sunhat. These materials just lend themselves so well to becoming a hat. However, my all time favorite item is the straw pom pom bag that I DIY’d as one of my first post.
