Trends to Elevate Your Winter Style

Winter seems to be the season that I struggle with most when it comes to style. Obviously, Floridians have a different winter than most everywhere else. This contributes to my struggle because wool coats, sheep skin boots, and cashmere sweaters just don’t work very well when it’s 80. Then we have the few days in December and January that are just freezing. If you are anywhere else today you might not know, but today is one of those days. Any other day though, we have to find other ways to express our winter style in Florida. So today I’m getting creative and sharing a few trends that everyone (not just those of us in Florida) can use to take their winter style to the next level.

Sequins

Sure, sequins are great for New Years Eve, but they really make winter extraordinary. If you don’t believe that sequins are for the entire winter season, just ask Elsa, she agrees with me. There’s nothing like adding a little sparkle to an outfit. I’m all about a blazer completely covered in sequins, but for those of you that want to keep it a bit more reserved, here are my favorite pieces.

Faux Fur

This trend is a total no brainer for winter. Shockingly, I do own a fur coat. As you can imagine though, it doesn’t get worn all too often. However, a fur shawl, purse, and even vest, can work for Florida, and every where else. From New York all the way down to the Keys, these items are perfect for your winter style.

Satin

This silky smooth fabric is cool to the touch and will make you look icy fierce. I’m particularly loving satin accessories this season. Satin is one of those fabrics that can be worn with just about everything. And don’t even get me started on how perfect satin and sequins are together. Match made in heaven.

Velvet

If y’all didn’t know, I’ve hopped onto the velvet trend at the end of last year. Actually, more like, re-hopped on it. For as long as I can remember, I’ve worn velvet. I remember when it wasn’t as popular and I still wore it. I’m glad to say that it is now a much bigger trend, especially so during winter. It’s become one of those winter staples for your closet, and I couldn’t be happier.
