Wedding Blue and More Colors for the Bride

I’ve recently had some debates with my girlfriends on what the bride to be can wear. Nothing detrimental to any of my relationships but it got me thinking about all the do’s and don’ts that society has about a Bride during her engagement season, and even wedding day. It’s no doubt that society has told brides that they can only wear pure white on their wedding day. (And if you don’t wear white, what are you insinuating?) While this societal view has started to die-off a little, it is still there.

Now I’ll be honest, I do love having an excuse to wear white. But whats wrong with having some blue in the wedding process? I think blue has become very popular among brides to be in their engagement season and wedding days. Especially when it comes to the “something blue” rhyme. Because of this, I’ve been enjoying wearing blue for bridal occasions as well. Especially blue florals, which I’m a total sucker for. While the majority of the wedding blue I’ve been wearing has been balanced with a dominate white, not all of it has. And I honestly might be partial to the more solid baby blues that are taking hold in my outfits.

Which brings us back full circle. I had envisioned in my mind some outfits that I might wear for bachelorette and one of them involved a solid blue. Which was quickly shot down as I was told, “you’re the bride, you should only be wearing white”. Now lets take a pause. This is so obviously not true. If anything, I’m the bride, I should wear whatever I like. Also acceptable: Only the Bride should wear white. (Unless explicitly told otherwise). When it comes to being the bride and wearing color, do what you want!

I personally would not wear bold colors as the bride to be. I’m not a fan of reds, oranges, neons, dark blues, etc. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be. I prefer blush colors for wearing as the bride. Blue has been my go to all wedding season, I’m also really drawn to blush. Granted, I’ve always loved the blush Lazaro gown that they show on Say Yes to the Dress. So it’s no surprise that I love blush for weddings. Maybe as I get more blush I’ll do a full post on that. But for now, I’m loving these wedding blues.
