The shirt dress from J.Crew has quickly become a wardrobe staple for me. I got this black shirt dress from TJ Maxx before covid shut the world down. Needless to say, that’s all it took to sell me on the shirt dress (not like I needed much convincing). After the world reopened I found another J. Crew shirt dress at TJ Maxx, but this time in patriotic stripes. I also found this adorable gingham shirt dress that’s equally great for fall. Like I said, the shirt dress has become my new wardrobe staple. This black shirt dress is no different.

I bought this dress at the tail end of winter, which means I only got to wear it once before warm weather rolled in. (LOL, before, it’s always warm in Florida). I just didn’t feel like black was exactly the color I wanted to wear all spring and summer, especially with Covid. So I’ve been saving it until fall came. And here we are! It’s Fall! Now I can wear this dress all the time (like I haven’t already. Psh).
Styling a Black Shirt Dress
I had so many ideas on how I would style this black shirt dress for fall. I’ve literally been thinking about it all summer long — What shoes am I going to wear? Should I get a felt hat to pair with it? Oh but what bag will I use?! — It’s been a symphony inside my head when it comes to styling this dress. And then I found the perfect pair of shoes. The rest was taken care of. Heck, did I even need anything other than these perfect shoes?! The answer is no. These leopard espadrilles were a match made in heaven for me (and this shirt dress). This outfit doesn’t need anything else to make it fabulous. (Though you know, a leopard clutch…now that would be wild!)
