Bridal Blue for the Bride to Be

Now that I’m a bride to be, I feel even less guilt for my blue floral obsession this summer. In fact, I’d say I’ve been wearing more bridal blue than I have white. (Though most of the time it is floral so there is quite a bit of white as well). I find myself using my Rent the Runway subscription looking solely for bridal blue and white. You never know when you’re going to need something for a bridal appointment or gathering. (I’ve had a handful of bridal appointments, but not so many gatherings. Can someone please just buy a bunch of balloons and pop some champagne and call it an engagement party? Hint, hint, nudge nudge).

*Fun Fact* I took these photos outside the venue I would have loved to get married at. But it got shut down so they could build a sky rise. Probably the only time I will be angry at a city scape in my life.

Where Does Bridal Blue Come From?

If I’m being honest, I really have no idea why bridal blue is so popular. But I would assume it originates from the rhyme, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in her shoe”. (Did you know the whole rhyme? Admittedly I did not know the last part about a sixpence until recently). My guess is this is the reason blue is so popular among brides. But not just any blue, particularly a light sky or baby blue. In some cases, items appear to be almost white, or just have a hint of blue in the print. Either way, my eyes are always peeled for this cool blue now whenever I’m browsing around.

My Favorite Items & Purchases

Like I mentioned before, saying I’m a bride to be has just given me an excuse to love everything floral and blue. I purchased my first Neely & Chloe Mini Lady in blue floral before I got engaged. I’ve also had a handful of more blues that have been making their way into my closet basically since winter ended. BUT, now as the bride, I’ve bought a few more bridal blue items with intentions of using them in some sort of wedding celebration. I’ve had my eye on this swimsuit and these pajamas from Beach Riot and finally took the plunge and bought both! Yes, it was a splurge. But I’m so excited to wear them! Here are some more of my favorites below. Even if you’re not a bride, blue is very popular in summertime and these items are perfect.
