Where has the time gone? No seriously, where? My head is still in March so there’s no way the 4th of July could be this week. Anyone else right there with me? It’s crazy how working from home for a few months can make you lose all sense of time. That doesn’t keep the world from spinning though and the months have brought us to the here and now. It just so happens that the 4th of July is this week and even though it might look a little different, that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate. I wanted to share a classic 4th of July look that I’ve been dying to show you all.

Classic 4th of July (and Juneteenth) Look
Before we get any further I wanted to state how I celebrated Juneteenth almost a week ago. If you aren’t aware (because I certainly wasn’t until this year!!!) Juneteenth is the day that the news of freedom for slaves came to all parts of America. This was over 2 years after the official emancipation proclamation was signed and enacted. Therefore, I spent much of Juneteenth educating myself about the holiday that is still not recognized at a national level.
My heart was extremely saddened realizing that I had no former recollection of this holiday. I feel that our education system has failed us in learning such a deep history. There are many things that are not pleasant throughout the history of the world. It’s sad that I know more about the holocaust and ancient civilizations than I do of our own nations struggle. This is why I’m continuing to educate myself, no matter how unpleasant and heartbreaking it is. Knowledge is power and can promote positive change in our nation and the world.
I was happy to learn that the official Juneteenth flag pulls on the colors red, white, and blue. People of all colors and backgrounds are American. I figured this post is not just good for the 4th of July, but Juneteenth as well! Hopefully everyone is learning more about American history and how we can truly make this country free & fair for all through continued personal education. So please enjoy this classic Juneteenth and 4th of July outfit!
