Classic Equestrian Style for Fall

Admittedly, this post pulls from the preppy layers from J. Crew. But this outfit has a bit more of a fall twist to it (and slightly less layers). Equestrian style is classic and elegant and perfect for fall. Think collared shirts, warm browns, and high boots. It’s basically the classic version of the Gen Z’s dark academia.

Equestrian Style

I have a distinct memory of equestrian style. It dates all the way back to my freshman roommate. One of her go to outfits freshman year was khakis, brown riding boots, a cami, and a cobalt blue blazer. This quickly became my impression of equestrian style. (Also just an fyi, she doesn’t ride horses. Neither of us are equestrian). At that time some…however many years ago that was…I was not a fan of high boots, black with brown, or leggings. But ya know, people change and evolve. I really like high boots now, though I don’t have many pairs. Black with brown doesn’t make me cringe all the time (only sometimes). And leggings should still not be worn as real pants…I have a thing about athletic clothes ok. Even with all these dislikes she really pulled off equestrian style well. And lucky for you (and me) I still have documentation of this cute outfit.

My take on equestrian style is clearly a little different. I’ve got on jeans for one, and I’m wearing over the knee boots for two. Because I’ve been so obsessed with dark academia I went with an overall muted look. Including my go to plaid blazer. Luckily we had a few cool days in Florida so I could take these photos outside. If it wasn’t for the under 80 degree whether, I would be sharing a very familiar room with y’all. Especially since I haven’t decorated for Christmas yet like many people. Halloween will live on! (For a little while longer that is).
