This weekend was Dapper Day at Walt Disney World! I have always seen and heard about Dapper Days, but was never able to participate in one until now. So what is it? Dapper Day are days at multiple locations around the world where you dress exceptionally nice and maybe just a little bit vintage. I first heard of Dapper Days happening at Disney parks on social media. Since that is basically the only way I was exposed to it, I thought that it was put on by Disney. I was wrong. Dapper Day actually isn’t put on by Disney but rather, Dapper Day is an organization outside of Disney. While Dapper Days at Disney are probably the best known, they actually take place at all different types of establishments. Keep reading for my Fall Dapper Day 2018 Recap.
Fall Dapper Day 2018
I was excited to dress up and be able to participate in Fall Dapper Day 2018 at Disney World. There were three days to participate but I only had one “dapper” outfit put together. I also had a bit of a hard time coming up with ideas that could accommodate my boyfriend. You see, we both have blonde hair. I ended up coming up with Tinker Bell and Terrance, from the animated Tinker Bell movies. A quick introduction for those of you that don’t have a clue what I’m talking about:
Essentially, Disney has made Tinker Bell her own series of movies. Since Tinker Bell is my all time favorite Disney character, I have seen all of them. Anyways, this one fairy, Terrance, is a pixie dust fairy and Disney has set him up to basically be Tinker Bell’s love interest. Not sure if that’s what was intended, but that’s how I see it. Instead of choosing Tinker Bell’s iconic green dress, I chose Tinker Bell’s white dress from the opening scene in her first movie (as seen below).
Dapper Day Outfit Process
I somehow managed to find the perfect dress for this Tink at my local Style Encore. My boyfriend had a lot for his dapper outfit already in his closet. However, we did end up shopping for a plain yellow button down and a fun newsboys hat, both of which we found at Burlington. We certainly didn’t go all out like a lot of people at Dapper day did but I don’t think we did too shabby either.
You would never know that Dapper Day isn’t put on by Disney the way all the cast members treat you. Everyone else that participated in Dapper Day were super friendly as well. It was such a nice ice breaker just being dressed up that you could talk to anyone like you’ve known them forever. I can’t wait for Dapper Day in Spring!
