Today I’m talking about my not so new obsession with headbands. I have acquired quite the collection in the past year so I figured it’s time I share all about these marvelous hair accessories. How to wear them, what to wear them with, where to buy them and so much more. So without further delay, let’s dive into the world of headbands.

How & What to Wear with Headbands
The great thing about headbands is, they’ve been around forever. (Like literally since the Romans). There is nothing new under the sun, so you shouldn’t be afraid of wearing one. They may seem daunting at first but that’s only because “bigger is better” is currently trending. Here’s just a few tips on how to start wearing headbands:
- Start Small – Just because big hair accessories are trending (have you seen those jumbo scrunchies?) doesn’t mean that’s how you have to start. If you are hesitant about wearing headbands I encourage you to start small. I really love these small, neutral 2pc sets from Target. They can easily be worn with any outfit and help you get your accessories legs under you before setting full sail.
- Wear with Like Colors – Before taking the full plunge, try pairing headbands with like color outfits or neutrals. Once you’ve gotten comfortable with that then I’d recommend exploring mixing more patterns, textures, and volume to your headbands.
- Be Bold – If you’re already comfortable with hair accessories you might as well be bold. I like to think of accessories as an extension of my mood and personality. Sometimes I’m not feeling all that adventurous, but other times I really want to be bold.
Unique & Affordable Finds
If you’ve gotten to your “bold” stage of headband wearing you’re probably looking for some really unique and exciting pieces. To which I say, look no further! I am personally a huge fan of Lele Sadoughi headbands. They’re bold, big, and beautiful. But with those comes a price tag that I’m not always willing to pay. So I wanted to share a few places to shop for affordable but still adorable options.
- Etsy – Coming in hot at #1 is Etsy. Not only are they known for their unique handmade creations but you’re also supporting small businesses. My favorite to shop from on Etsy are Sunshine Style FL & new found favorite iamKhatu.
- J.Crew – J. Crew has a great selection at reasonable prices. They typically don’t get above $30 and almost always have some kind of discount you can use. My current favorites from J.Crew are in the Liberty prints collection.
- Target – Target has really up-ed their game the last couple years in accessories. They had quite a handful of collaborations and I highly recommend checking them out. They are by far the most affordable with accessories typically under $20. I bought on of my favorite headbands this season in a recent Target haul.
