All too often I fall into the summer (and Florida) trap of wearing shorts with a t-shirt only. This way of thinking can really limit your wardrobe choices. Especially if you’re someone like me who owns a lot of printed shorts and not many t-shirts. White Collared Shirt with Printed Shorts
I really struggle to find tops to wear with my Lilly shorts. I’m not big on plain tees and I much prefer printed blouses that I can wear to work. However, collared shirts are something I have in neutrals that could easily go with my printed shorts. (Even none Lilly shorts). In the past I’ve probably shied away from collared shirts because of the whole sleeves things. But if the shirt is pure cotton (and white) it should be plenty cool, even in summer months. Don’t worry if you don’t want to test it yourself, I did for you. I wore this white collared shirt with some Lilly Pulitzer shorts alllll day in the Florida heat and stayed as cool as I would with a t-shirt.
Patterned Shirt & Jean Shorts
Of course, the ever trending collared shirt and jean shorts fad is always a good way to go. Whether the jean shorts have a high waist, are ripped, or feature some embroidery, this trend will be around for awhile. While not typically up my alley, I figured I’d give this trend a shot. Honestly, I’m pretty pleased. I don’t feel like an under dressed bum (which I’m always worried about) but I’m also not over dressed (which I usually am). Not to say being over dressed is a bad thing, but with this combo I’m just the right amount of dressed.
