In the Market for a New Spring Handbag

Like I mentioned in my spring pastels post, I’m in the market for a new spring handbag. Sadly my purses are all starting to fall apart. Which I guess happens with non leather handbags after a couple of years of heavy use. It might be time to put my big girl pants on and invest in some long term purses. I’d love some help picking because there are just so many cute spring handbags to choose from and I can’t afford them all!

Designer Spring Handbag

One of my favorite brands ever is Kate Spade. Kate Spade is the first designer I knew and saw once I figured out what “designer” even was. Can you believe that even with how fashion driven I was in my later years of high school I didn’t know what “designer” was? I knew the term brand back then. My favorite clothing store, Kohls, had brands. I had favorite brands from Kohls. But I wouldn’t consider Kohls to carry many “designer” brands. They certainly didn’t carry Kate Spade or Lilly Pulitzer.

I didn’t realize that other department stores like Macy’s and Nordstrom carried designer brands because well, I couldn’t afford them! Honestly, I still can’t afford designer brands for full price. Why do you think I shop at TJ Maxx so religiously? Thank god for TJ Maxx though for real. That’s where I had my first exposure with designer brands, including Kate Spade.

Investing in a Designer Handbag

I’ve had all kinds of handbags throughout my life. Cheap ones, cute affordable ones, designer ones. (You bet I own a couple Kate Spade bags & wallets). What it’s led me to realize is to not get attached to non-leather, probably not designer, purses. Why? Because they won’t stand the test of time. Sure they might be completely classic, but there’s a reason these bags are cheaper. They don’t use materials that last. Which is why I’m deciding to invest in a designer spring handbag. One thing I seriously appreciate about designers like Kate Spade, Michael Kors, and Calvin Klein is that they are fairly affordable. They certainly aren’t dirt cheap, but they aren’t exactly Gucci either. And from what I’ve seen so far, they’re built to last. And I’m all about that.
