There’s nothing better in summer than big, bright, patterns. But when it comes to pattern mixing, big and bold don’t always play well together. So for today’s summer pattern mixing lesson, I’ve decided to be bright, but not so big. Floral is a great pattern for spring and summer, it’s iconic year in and year out. Stripes are another classic pattern. Not just in summer, but year round. When mixing the two, it certainly fine to be bold with both (particularly a big floral!) IT just so happens, I don’t have a super large floral print. OR an oversized stripe. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be done! Here’s a few tips & reminders for mixing patterns this summer.
Summer Pattern Trends & Tips
Summer is the perfect season to wear bright colors. Whether you opt for neon, or just classic solids, the color should be rich and stand out. Not sure you’re ready for such bright colors and patterns? Here’s my tips for summer mix and matching.
- Stick with classic summer colors – Red, white, and blue are the perfect color combo for summer. Get in a patriotic mood and mix stars with stripes! Want something that’s classic but doesn’t scream 4th of July? Try pinks and blues for summer instead.
- Be adventurous! – To me, summertime is all about getting out there and doing something new. Try doing this with your pattern mixing this summer! Already mastered wearing different prints in the same hue? Nows the time to really mix it up and mix unique colors and patterns.
- Get inspiration from Pinterest – Pinterest is my go to for all things inspo. Whether it’s mixing patterns or wedding decor, it always has just what I need to be inspired!
