I’ve been on the hunt for a rain jacket for as long as I can remember. There’s plenty out there, I just couldn’t bring myself to buy a classic yellow rain jacket, or some flimsy plastic. So I used my windbreaker (which is not at all waterproof) when weather called for rain. But now I’m glad to say, I’ve found the perfect trench coat rain jacket. And I do mean perfect. Just add it to the list of amazing Poshmark finds!

Gingham Trench Coat
When I had the opportunity to score this trench coat for an amazing price, I couldn’t pass it up. Just add it to the list of Poshmark purchases I’ve made within the past two months. I love that this trench doubles as a jacket for (potentially) cooler weather and also keeps me dry from the rain! Bonus that it’s the perfect preppy print & has a great cut!
How to Style a Trench Coat
Before I get too far into all the ways you can style a trench coat let me stress the importance of fit & cut. Depending on what you choose to wear it with will call for different cuts. A more relaxed trench works best with structured outfits like pants and a button down. On the other hand, pairing it with a dress calls for a little more structure in the jacket. This structure might already be built in, or can be done by tying the sash in the back, instead of around the waist.
I chose to style this trench two different ways. First, I styled it with some polka dots pants and a blouse. I thought the subtle polka dots mixed nicely with the gingham of the trench coat. Then I chose to style it with a pretty pink dress and some heels. While the pants and blouse had a more professional vibe, the dress and trench coat made me feel very elegant. Almost like I was ready to go to some gala. Even my boyfriend said “I’m surprised how well that dress and coat go together”.
