What I’m Packing for Denver, CO

The long awaited girls trip is finally here! In just 2 days I’ll be on a plane to fly off to the actual cold. I’ve flown to Denver a handful of times in my life but it’s honestly been awhile. And I’ve certainly never made a trip in the dead of winter. So after careful calculations (and many Google searches) I’ve finally decided on what I’m packing for this girls trip to Denver, Colordao!

Lots of Layers for Denver in Winter

I mean, of course I’ll be packing layers. I’m a Floridian through and through and trust me when they say the blood thins fast. Somehow I managed to fit 4 sweaters, 2 jackets, a pair of boots, and everything else in this hiking backpack/duffle. More on packing tips later though. Here’s Everything I shoved in my bag (or on my body) for this 4-day girls getaway to Denver!

Sherpa Jacket // Keds x Rifle Paper Co. Boots // Warm Fair Isle Socks // Pom Hat // Fur Trim Boots // Mock Neck Sweater // Button Front Jeans

Packing Tips for 4 Day Getaway in Winter

The problem with a 4-day getaway to Denver isn’t the cost of the trip or even what to bring. It’s how you fit it all. Like I said, I’m using this convertible backpack duffle so space is limited. (Also side note, what a great Prime Day purchase!) With so many layers and knits, it’s hard to fit it all into even a small suitcase. Here’s how I did it.

  1. Wear lots of layers on the plane – I plan on wearing a shirt, a sweater, a jacket, and a coat on the plane. And that’s just the top! I have jeans with leggings on underneath and of course some chunky socks and boots. Will I actually wear all that to the airport? Only God knows, but I will try!
  2. Use the Roll Method – This has been my go to method when trying to fit a ton of clothes in a bag. Roll up your sweaters, pants, and everything else as tightly as possible. I swear, it’s worked wonders on my drawers for years!
  3. Attach to the Outside of Your Bag – I plan on bringing a tripod for my camera. Instead of trying to fit it inside my bag with all my clothes, I’ll be attaching it to the outside of my bag. Likewise, to keep my camera safe, I’ll be wearing it around me. This will save a ton of space inside my bag.
  4. Bring an Extra Bag (in your bag) – Things you should know, I’m cheap. Which means when I fly airlines like Frontier, Spirit, or Allegiant, I don’t pay for an carry-on. However, I’m also smart. So if I’m booking a different airline back I’ll roll up an extra bag into my carry-on. (In this case I’m flying Frontier out and American back). Why is this? Even though I’m cheap, I know I also like to shop. I almost always come home with more than what I left with. So when you fly a different airline back that allows a free carry-on, I don’t have to cram as much on the way home.
