Florida’s weather doesn’t look like it’ll drop below 70 again until next winter. With some highs in the 90’s, Florida skips the winter to spring transition all together. However, earlier in winter there were many days that started in the 40’s and ended in the 70’s. This might be what spring looks like for you. With temperatures that change so suddenly, I really got to put my transitioning skills to work. Here are my 5 tips for transitioning from winter to spring.

5 Transition Tips from Winter to Spring
You probably aren’t experiencing temperature’s in the 90’s yet unless you live in the South. Which is why these transition tips are so helpful. It’s time to shake off the seasonal depression and start dressing for spring, even if the weather doesn’t want winter to be over.
Switch to White Jeans
White pants and jeans are my go-to for springtime. On the mornings that I know will be chilly is when I wear them most often (or if the high is only 70, brr). I love white pants because they are bright and fresh, just like spring. Not to mention, they go with everything, even a white top. There’s no end to the amount of outfits you can create with white jeans.
Wear Light Layers
This is super important. Many times I find myself still reaching for a wool coat in spring. After all, that is what Floridians wear when it’s 50 out. But in spring I need to start grabbing my lighter layers. This means having my cotton blazer, my cardigans, and my light jackets at the ready. Layering is still key in spring, but especially so when going from winter to spring.
Incorporate Pastels
Clearly pastels are my favorite for spring, how many times have I brought them up in the past week alone? When it comes to spring, my favorite colors to start bringing back into my wardrobe are pastels. If I go too bright it feels like summer. If I stick with muted blues, greens, and browns, I feel stuck in winter. Even just by wearing a pastel sweater though you can be put into the spring mindset. Bonus points if it has flowers.
Bold Patterns
Go big or go home they always say! But this doesn’t have to be the case for spring patterns. I still love a good ditsy floral. Because of the small print I actually like it in a brighter color. (It doesn’t usually look as bright unless your face is in the fabric). Large florals and gingham are also great patterns for transitioning from winter to spring.
Wear Boots with Skirts & Dresses
This tip is personally at the bottom of my list for one reason, and one reason only. Boots in Florida right now are done. You might see the occasional bootie right now but you can bet they’ll have a side cutout. (Which only works if there’s no snow on the ground!) But still rocking boots, even OTK boots, with some spring skirts and dresses is a great way to transition. The higher they are, the warmer your legs will be after all!
