I took theses pictures when working on my online boutique post. It is by far one of my favorite dresses and up until recently I couldn’t really wear it. Like many maxi dresses, it was far too long. While I have basic sewing skills, I didn’t feel confident enough to hem this dress on a whim. The chinoiserie print on the dress made hemming this maxi a bit more complicated than most. However with my extra time at home I pinned the pattern for a make-shift hem job. It looks pretty good if I do say so myself.

Chinoiserie Maxi Print Dress
Chinoiserie is a term many other fashion bloggers I follow use. It’s essentially a Chinese, ginger jar type print. While using chinoiserie in my clothing searches does work, it typically turns up clothes that I can’t afford. I lucked out with this chinoiserie maxi though because I bought it from a boutique during a sale. Most other dresses that show up in this print are on par with Dolce & Gabbana prices. (Ok not really, more along the lines of $300+). Regardless, even a $200 dress right now is a bit of a reach. Though I did want to share a few pricier dresses that I love to look at right now. Maybe I’ll be able to afford them in the future…
More Pretty Blue Prints
To find more affordable dresses that share similar color schemes and patterns I changed up my search terms. Try words like, “tile”, “boho”, and “summer”. Floral can also be promising but I find that it doesn’t exactly bring up dresses I’m into. Amazon is great for cheap boho style dresses that come in multiple colors. Online boutiques can be a little more expensive but have prints that are more on par with this blue dress. Regardless of your style, I hope you enjoy these tips and picks.
