Minnie Mouse Shoes DIY

I’m obsessed with all the Disney themed Vans that have been released the past few years. In true bargain style, I did not buy the super adorable Minnie Mouse bow Vans when they were still in stock. I looked for them on every resale site that I know of and I only found them at ridiculous prices. Instead of getting all upset or talk myself into spending a fortune on them, I decided to make these Minnie Mouse Shoes myself. They might may not look exactly like the Minnie Mouse Vans but they are still pretty darn cute and I can’t wait to wear them to Disney World.

To make this DIY as simple as possible, I purchased shoes that already had polka dots printed on them. Of course, you can purchase canvas shoes in any color you want and just add polka dots to them, but I wanted to be efficient. I also went ahead and purchased a party pack of Minnie Mouse headbands for a few reasons. A) They had the puffy bows I was looking for. B) They were surprisingly cheaper than a lot of other bow options. And C) I want to use those Mickey ears for a future DIY. If none of these things matter to you, by all means by whatever bow you like best. Now let’s get started!

Minnie Mouse Shoes Tutorial

Mickey and Minnie Mouse Headband DIY

Step One // Remove bows from headband. Do this gently as you may want to save those Mickey ears for a future DIY project.

Step Two // Test the placement of your bow on the shoe. Once desired location has been found, use the hot glue to secure your bow.

Disney DIY

Step Three // Once glue is dry, test the strength of the bond. This can be done by vigorously shaking the shoes or taking them on a test stroll around the block.

Step Four // Pair with your favorite Disney outfit and look cute AF.

The total cost of this project is under $45. When you can only find the original Vans for $70 or more, this is a real deal for shoes that are just as cute. Toodles!

These are awesome! I might try this myself!

Are these shoes comfortable? I was thinking of using maybe Keds…are your white ones good to wear around the park? Do you wear no show socks?

    Thanks!! Jenny.

Jenny, these are very comfortable shoes. I didn’t wear socks and wore them around for a good 6 hours and never had any kind of blistering or anything (just normal tired feet). My Keds are equally as comfortable so whatever shoes work best for you. Hope this helps and I’m excited to see the finished product!
