So, much like all of you, I have a dad. Also much like all of you, I have the best dad in the entire world. As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized how special my relationship with my dad is. He has always tried so hard to keep me “daddy’s little girl”, even if I never noticed before. It’s there in the annual trips to Disney on Ice together, or bringing home a cake the night before my birthday because he knew he would be away the next day. It’s there in all the “have a good day” text and the early morning coffee talks together. I seriously have the best dad in the entire world. And yet, I don’t feel like I’ve ever done anything special for him. (I mean I’ve done small things, but with all he’s done for me they just don’t add up). This year a lot of the gifts I’ve gotten for people have been about having an “experience”, this way it isn’t something they can ever get tired of and throw away but always hold in their heart. So for Father’s day this year I left the socks at the store and took him to Drive Shack, a new driving range that just opened up in Orlando. (Note: I tricked him into thinking we were going to Disney because I wanted it to be a surprise). It’s basically a Top Golf but he’s been saying how this place looks so cool. And I knew if I had a blast the one time I went before then he would too (for reference, I don’t golf, we’re working on it). Ultimately, it’s not about what money can buy (or how good I am at golf), but how you can show your appreciation for the people you love in your daily life.
