Nashville Weekend

This post has been a long time coming. A whole year long time coming. Last year Michael and I took my younger sister on a quick weekend trip to Nashville. (When I say quick, I mean under 48 hours). She went to her party and we went exploring. Truth be told, I was not very excited to spend a weekend and Nashville. I wouldn’t consider it my “scene”. However, we did hit all the Nashville tourist stops in one weekend so I can officially mark it off my bucket list. (Maybe forever).

Major Sites to see on a Weekend in Nashville

After landing we dropped off my sister to get ready before her event. Michael and I then traveled back to downtown Nashville for our first stop of the day, the Parthenon.

The Nashville Parthenon

The Parthenon in Nashville is a full scale replica of the real Parthenon. It was built in 1897 for Tennessee’s Centennial Exposition. It’s located in Centennial Park which gives a great history of the exposition. The Parthenon was probably my favorite stop on our weekend trip to Nashville. And probably the only thing I’d actually go back to see. Inside is an art museum and a re-creation of the statue of Athena.

The Grand Ole Opry

Jumping around in the timeline a bit. The Grand Ole Opry is another well known Nashville site. Before we boarded our plane the following afternoon (a short 28 hours later) we stopped by. There were obviously no concerts going on on a Sunday morning, but they had music playing around the grounds. We didn’t stay very long as we had to get to the airport. But it was still a cool experience to have. And if you’re a fan of music, particularly country music, this should definitely be a stop on your list.

Where to Eat in Nashville on the Weekend

Our two most popular tourist destinations in Nashville for the weekend were by far the Parthenon and Grand Ole Opry. But let’s not forget, we had to eat too! Michael and I ended our Saturday night at the Arrington Vineyards. It was poppin to say the least. They had live music and picnic tables so that you could have your own picnic. Obviously we were not prepared for a picnic so we opted for the food truck and of course sampled some wine. Then we walked through the vineyard before heading back to the hotel.

Other stops we made for food are listed below. We tried to eat at places that locals recommended and not fast food. After all, we were only in Nashville for one weekend.
