There’s not a doubt in my mind who inspired me to try a power suit for myself. Shayla from La Vie SPG shares the most dazzling and empowering suits. I used to think my definition of a power suit was something bold, like a pink or a powder blue. But Shayla invites me to push the limits on what bold means. Absolutely, a bright pink suit is quite a bold move. However, there is more to bold than just bright colors. What makes more of a statement than a bold print? Not much.

Having a power suit is something that I’ve always loved the idea of. Work style is something that has always been dear to my heart (even though I don’t always love working a 9-5). I just love the idea of classic pieces and fun office style. However, my work style has adapted to be more fun than classic in a way. I no longer want my work wardrobe to be separate from my every day wardrobe, a vice versa. A good way to do this is to incorporate certain aspects of your every day into your work, and this power suit I feel does just that. The pattern is bold which is on par with my non work style. But the suit is still classic work style.
Expanding My Style
I’ve been using Nuuly and Rent the Runway to push my limits on fashion. Because they are rental services with flat fees I feel more empowered to try something I usually wouldn’t. It’s a great way to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. While I highly doubt a suit can look bad on anyone, it was something I had never tried. Suit separates sure, but never a full matching suit. I was equally as surprised how well a suit from a rental service fit. I hear all day long about how the best suits are tailored for you. But this suit fit very well, especially for a rental! Then again, maybe that makes more sense since many men rent their tuxes and suits for big occasions.
