Shoe Trends in Spring 2020 (and Beyond?)

Trends come and go with the years and seasons. While I personally think some trends should have been left in the past, there are some comebacks that I am all for. (PVC shoes? Gross. Chunky/Statement Headbands? Love). Here are my favorite shoe trends in spring 2020 so far. Note: No matter how popular PVC shoes may continue to get I highly doubt I will ever be head over heels for them. As if.

Spring 2020 Shoe Trends

Most of these shoe trends have been keeping a pretty steady record since their comebacks. I’ve noticed that over time shoe trends that are truly classic may vanish suddenly but always come back stronger. Below are just a few comebacks and (fairly) newbies to the shoe game this spring.

Mules & Slides

I adore mules and slides. There was a time when I wasn’t a fan of them but I have to say, they’ve grown on me. To me, they’re like a classier version of flats and flip flops. (Not that those can’t be classy, mules and slides just make it even more effortless). I also love how easy they are to put on. Seriously, I used to be a hard core flip flop girl. Then last summer I bought a pair of slides and oh my god. I’m in love.

Woven & Braided

Talk about a comeback I didn’t dare think would comeback. Granted, the last time I can recall that woven and braided shoes were big, I was probably under the age of 5. I remember seeing woven sandals in my moms closet as a kid and kind of loved them. As I got older and could fit into her shoes I’d see them in her closet a lot. They’d always be in their respective clear box that was sitting and collecting dust. I was always to scared to ever wear them because I knew they were outdated and certainly not what everyone else was wearing at the time. But now I’m glad to say woven and braided are all the rage now. If my mom doesn’t start wearing them again soon I’m gonna have to steal them for my closet.

Block/Chunky Heels

Block heels are a trend that should have never died. I mean seriously, stilettos are cute, but only for about 5 seconds of wearing them. (Just enough time to take pictures and that’s it). I love that they’ve come back. Not only are they cute but my feet smile more in them.

Espadrilles

Espa-what-a’s? Trust me, I feel ya. I always see bloggers sharing the “cutest pair of espadrilles”. And I totally agree, the shoes they are sharing are so cute. But I actually didn’t have a clue what they were talking about. So let me break it down for you. Espadrilles are shoes with soles made out of esparto rope. Pretty simple right? They come in wedges, flats, sneakers, literally everything. I have to say my favorite espadrilles are the wedges.
