In a world that teaches woman that showing skin is trashy, classless and “asking for it”, I’m here to tell you it’s not. Today I’m sharing my favorite cropped tops and cut-outs pieces that are classy and prove to society that woman (that anyone) can wear whatever they want.
Cut-Out Dress
This Lilly Pulitzer Linley Cut-Out dress is from a season last summer (2017). I tried it on in stores and completely fell in love with it. I did not however fall in love with the price (but remember, good things come to those who wait). This Tiki Pink Beach Bliss print is just gorgeous and the jersey material is super comfortable for everyday wear. Not to mention, as a petite woman who encounters most maxi dresses swallowing me whole, this one didn’t. I honestly didn’t even notice the cut-outs on this dress until I wore it out. When I did notice and looked in the mirror I realized how perfectly the cutouts were placed. They’re placed in a way that gives everyone the most beautiful hourglass figure, and this is probably the reason I don’t feel like it engulfs me.
Like I said, I completely fell head over heels for this dress but it just wasn’t in my budget. I patiently waited for the Lilly Pulitzer Sale later that summer, and if I believe correctly it was in that sale, but I didn’t find it till after it sold out in my size.
When that happened, I started stalking Poshmark for my size. I might have waited 6 extra months after the sale but I found it! I actually got super lucky when I found it on Poshmark because the previous owner was petite as well and had it already hemmed perfectly for my height! So not only did I save a ridiculous amount of money, but I also didn’t have to pay to get it hemmed!
Cropped Tops
While I’ve really never had anything against cut-outs, I’ve struggled to find cropped tops that make me feel good. The few that I own I generally wear as casual wear (like super casual around the house or to the beach). But on occasion I do get the confidence to wear my cropped tops with higher waisted skirts (as seen here and in this look as well). I think pairing high waisted with cropped tops is just so elegant and makes your figure look drop dead gorgeous.
A trend that I was following a lot this summer was cropped top sets. I think they are just to die for! I don’t own one yet but I will be keeping my eye out for some that I can wear when the next summer season rolls around (or you know, before my Floridian summer season ends). If you have any suggestions for cropped top sets I would love some!
